DurtySouthTLR 02-14-2003, 07:35 AM I have family about 5 hrs. outside of Omaha and will make the trip if things go down. I have a question though. All of the Ohio riders were gonna get together and ride down. Omaha is a long way from Akron if they bin it at the track.
Are the OHIO guys still coming? This is the first time I've seen this post, but I'd be all about it. Let's keep this thing rollin
Keith B 02-14-2003, 08:53 AM Just a question..Has anyone been to MAM before? What's your impression? I've been there once. The track was a disappointment and there's nothing in the area (such as great roads or attractions). Not to mention that you have to take gravel roads to get there. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see much reason to go there, even though it's only 2 hours from my house.
Ash Grove, MO looked very promising.
Just my .02.
--Ryan-- 02-14-2003, 10:49 AM Yes, the Ohio guys are still planning on going as far as I know. The Northern Ohio guys, and Gals, will probably start in Cleveland, go to Toledo, and continue west. Goo question about other attractions near the track...maybe you can offer up some ideas http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif to us. Thanks, and keep the feedback coming so we can make this ride as big and fun as possible.

GdSaXnR 02-14-2003, 01:15 PM I posted somewhere about this before, but it may have got deleted with the whole change in software. Is everyone considering riding down there? For one it is a very long ride. The bigger worry would be someone wrecking at the track though. Getting banged up and having your bike unable to ride would make an interesting ride back home. Just wondering if anyone considered that. Im still not sure if I would be able to make it or not, but if someone had a pickup or a trailer or something from this area, it would be a good idea to bring it.
gixersixer 02-14-2003, 01:49 PM Southern Ohio boys can start in Columbus and head accross I-70 to stop in Dayton. Lets here from you guys. Who is in?
--Ryan-- 02-14-2003, 01:58 PM I was thinking about the same thing, and I agree, it would be a good idea to have a support vehicle along, even if there was a mechanical breakdown on the road, it would be nice to have some tools, etc, or again worse case scenario, someone goes down. It makes sense to have a support vehicle. Unfortunately, my Civic won't do. Any volunteers would be much appreciated (maybe a non-riding wifey, etc).

Also, this is the hotel I am looking at, and I want input before I go and try to negotiate a good rate. Right now, I can use a business contact to get at least the corporate rate of $50, but I hope to work us a better deal. I need to gauge interest, so please give feedback. You can pm me if it is easier.

GdSaXnR 02-14-2003, 07:41 PM I can't give any promises, it all has to do with the money when the time comes. What are the costs going to be to use the track? How long of a ride is it to wherever this place is. Is the $50 rate for a double room or what? Whenever you get the approximate rates of what everything will be per person let everyone know, so they can take vacation time if they have to.
--Ryan-- 02-15-2003, 07:17 PM This rate is for single occ. as of now. Just trying to gauge interest so I do not call the hotel feeling like I am standing around with my dick in my hand http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/piss.gif. I want to be able to give apprx nums of rooms. Not looking for a commitment either way now. As far as track stuff, you need to ask movi about it. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Eagledriver 02-15-2003, 11:36 PM Whats going on i havent read anything about some gixxer.com convention.Fill me in on the topic. Were and what excatly.
SoCalRR 02-16-2003, 11:02 AM alright heres the deal, the track s set up its going to take alot of back tracking to find a new place and set up there. i cant provide a break down free enviroment, and no you dont HAVE to get on the track if you are afraid of wrecking, its just a part of the whole thing, its really being put together just some we can get the members together and have a good time, i cant promise somone wont break down along the way, and its not going to be a short ride for most of us, but its going to be a blast and its all for fun, are you going to miss out on a great event just because you are afraid you might break down??? get your oil changed, check your tires, and common. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
GdSaXnR 02-16-2003, 05:50 PM Im not asking you to cover any of this stuff. Im just mentioning to everyone, since we all live in the same area, that we should gather our resources together and try and cover all the bases. If everyone throws in we can pull it off. I just want to know what the deal with the track is. Do we definetely have the track available? How much is it going to be per person? That kind of stuff. I don't know if you have figured it all out yet, but you said something about it being set in stone, so I am just trying to figure shit out here thats all.
Spooner 02-16-2003, 07:41 PM I can see why some people are worried about getting home after crashing..but this isn't really set up to be like a race or anything-it is just a controlled environment so we can all ride the 'twisties' but not have to worry about crap in the roads, blue hairs, or the po-po..get it http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Yes you could crash, but I would rather crash at the track than into a tree or a car... And I am working on getting some technical help from my dealer so we will probably have techs on hand in case of any failures, and I am sure I can get them to bring some extra levers and stuff..

SoCalRR 02-16-2003, 08:27 PM the track is 99.9% a full green light. i am waiting for an e-mail or a phone call about cost. i will probably recieve that tomorrow. I Know for a fact that a buddy of mine is taking his buisness trailor out there, he replaces tires, forks antyhign you need really in case of somthing happening. i also understand that others like him will be coming as well from other places. we will do all we can to run this smoothly and try to get everyone there and home safely but as with anythging accidents do happen. lets just knock on wood and go have fun.
I think the new location is going to be too far away for me. School and work wont allow more than a couple days off in a row. Looks good though, I will contact, in an unlikely event that I would be able. Have Fun!
gixersixer 02-21-2003, 03:07 PM I'm still in, what is the latest? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
SoCalRR 02-21-2003, 06:34 PM Funny you ask. i just got word back from the GM of the complex. Cost is as follows:
camping fee is $25 per camping unit, this includes campers, tents etc. you can have as many people to a unit as you wish and its $25 flat. now for those who wish to run ont he track, lights must be removed, headlights taped, and a quick tech inspection as usual. cost for the track right now is set at $130 a day but the more people that wish to run on the track the cheaper itll get.
So, what i need now is EVERYONE that will be running on the track to post up so i can relay the number to Mr. Johnson (GM) and he can work us a better deal. please post up. but for everyone else it will just be $25 to camp there with everyone.
Please post if you want track time!
gixersixer 02-24-2003, 02:01 PM I will be using the track as well as my friend. So put me down for 2. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
DaveGoli 03-01-2003, 08:57 AM I have been to MAM before.
I worked there for a few days durring the construction phase of it.
The track is a FAST track.
Hard to defend also.
You stated that the price is $130 a day, and we had to tape up the bike.
what about the antifreeze ?
and the oil fill and drain plugs being safety wired ?
also, is there a class requirement ?
calss meaning training, or amature race license?
leathers required ?
boots ?
gloves ?

psoff 03-07-2003, 07:37 AM You all do know that this is the same weekend as the Mid Ohio AMA races right? I can't believe that you gus would not go to that.
OOOSSS 03-13-2003, 11:28 PM Count me in. Just let me know where to send the $$$.
SoCalRR 03-16-2003, 01:29 PM I am organizing the trackday during the rally @ MAM.
It is a 2 day track blitz!
45 rider capacity
3 groups advanced , intermediate , training wheels group
This will maximize your tracktime & give you a open track to concentrate on YOUR riding not passing the guy in front or worrying about the girl that just passed you on the outside piloting a 250.
I have spoke to Marc Mills regarding this event.
If we run near 45 riders I may employ 2 more control riders with experience.
Price is $130.00 for both days, it is a package deal.
A $50.00 deposit is due upon entry, the remaining is due no later than May 17th.
If you would like to attend email me directly so I may put you on the mailing list for updates.
Standard race attire is required!
If you have any questions regarding necessary gear requirements email me.
Rclaypole@prodigy.net
Thank You for your time

gsxrfever 03-22-2003, 11:29 AM I live about 10 miles away from MAM in Omaha. I saw a lot of questions about the track needs before you can ride, you can check that all out at www.midamericamotorplex.com. (http://www.midamericamotorplex.com.) They require the usual draining of antifreeze with straight water bike safety wired etc... The track it self is pretty nice from what I have seen. The track is located off of Interstate 29, and yes you do have to go down a gravel road that is at least a mile long to get there. I believe they have also opened their 1/8th mile drag strip for those that likle to ride in striaght lines and don't have enough funds to ride on the track. You are required to have an approved license or track school to be able to ride on the track. If any of you have any questions let me know I can find out rather easily. There isn't a whole lot in the immediate area although Omaha and Council Bluffs is just down the road if you need to hit the store or just wanna find something else to do.
gsxrfever 03-22-2003, 11:39 AM Well my link didn't work so I am cut and pasting from the website:
MOTORCYCLE PREPARATION :
1. Antifreeze must be drained, flushed and replaced with water (additives such as water-wetter are approved). Not Required for Safety School.
2. Oil fill, drain and filter must be safety-wired. Not Required for Safety School.
3. Mirrors and lights must have tape over them.
4. Tires must be in good condition (new tires are recommended for your first track experience, but not required. Tire approval is at the discretion of the Tech Inspector).
5. Bikes must be clean, fluid tight (no leaks), and in good condition.
6. All motorcycles must pass Technical Inspection at each event before entering the track.
RIDER:
1. Provide MAM with an approved racing license, certificate of completion from an approved track rider course, or attend the MAM Track Safety School and attain your certificate.
2. All riders must have a full coverage Snell95 or newer helmet in good condition.
3. Leather boots, full coverage leather gloves, zip together leather jacket and pants, or a full racing suit.
4. Riders are also required to wear back protectors if their riding jacket or suit does not have one.
5. All rider equipment must pass Technical Inspection at each event before entering the track.
6. Cordura type pant and jackets are only approved during the safety school, they are not approved for track riding outside the school.
www.midamericamotorplex.com (http://www.midamericamotorplex.com) is the correct website but for some reason the link is not working. just type it into your browser and it'll work. You can check out pics of the track and other stuff. For bikes got to the motomania club portion. LOL I just realized my previous link didn't work cuz i put a period at the end of the sentence.... my bad
gsxrfever 03-22-2003, 11:56 AM You should post this in the Mountain region as well since Nebraska is considered mountain here and the track is so close to NE.
SoCalRR 03-23-2003, 12:05 PM I just recieved an e-mail from bionic man. the guy i was working with on this. He informed me that the gixxer.com ride will nto ahppen because not enough people comitted to track day.
