I am not really into car racing, but it is the best tintop series in the world. It will shock a few punters in the US for sure. Take it to all the people, sell more export Falcons & Commodores, support Australia images/icons/smile.gif

Cause they're scared of real competition. It was rumoured Mitsubishi had a V8 kitted out a couple of years ago but they weren't allowed to run it cause it wasn't a ford or holden.

The reason that no over make has entered the series is due to the fact that they haven’t been able to meet the criteria. The criteria include the one rule that will screw all other makes.
"Engine configuration must comply with the following:
……
ii) Engine must be of a single camshaft pushrod design and no alternate modifications are allowed;
" And so on.
These were copied from the current rules off the CAMS website.

So what they are really saying is that if you make a car, and want to race it in the V8 Supercar series, you have to use ancient technology, or bugger off. These rules were made after the domination of the Nissan GTR's in the late 80's or early 90's. The V8's are still trying to work out which way they went.

Dean.<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Agreed, maybe the idea was to stop the 1/2 million dollar race car that the GTR was supposed to be, well it hasn't happened, the factory v8 cars are worth a packet. I still remember the bathurst when Richards won on lap count back in the rain after he hurt his GTR, said something like "Your a pack or Arseholes" to the booing crowd, that was the very instant that a lot of the gloss and innovation left the series.

Jimmy wasn't a happy camper that day. I meet him briefly last year and he is an ok guy. Imagine the spec of cars that would be running now if we had a bit more variation in the series and it wasn't so hobbled....
