Cause we're so damn far away from everyone, I reckon we should be able to sell stuff to each other here. What do you guys think?

My post about my front fendor and ducktail is gone but I think we have that Australian honesty thing going here. So c'mon guys, you think we should be able to or what?

It is against the site rules, sorry dude but if exceptions are being made for one everybody will want them then squabbling and bitching will happen... There is too much of that as it is. Gotta keep the whole site happy and within the guidelines, otherwise it will turn to more crap... I mentioned that the for sale stuff would bring more attention to our little place in the world where we have been given a fair degree of freedom to do what we want, it would be a shame to lose that as well.

If we put For Sale posts in the For Sale forum, none of the Aussies will ever find it, or have to trawl through all the USELESS AMERICAN SHIT to get to it.

The rules are far too American-centric, bastards think they're the centre of the universe.

I think we should put up our own site and forum.

The main issue here is that you are required to be a donating member to post for sale items regardless what area you are trying to post. If you can just post (and not be a donater) here it goes against why they changed the for sale section i.e. to stop commercial posts etc. If anything a "Under the Belt" section should be setup in the for sale area and not have the "ads" placed here.

They could do a site within a site, so have like this section plus fore sale, pics etc . On the different forum idea, would you have somewhere to host it? As a smart web dude can you tell me would it be possible to incorporate some of the sections from here and some of our own, kinda a "best of" thing. Guess it would need the ok for MrG to do something like that?

On the main problem I was amazed the thread stayed open for as long as they did. Guess Zam does check in here more often than we think.

i like the idea of an .au site for us but if we did would we still be able to acess parts from the original for instance pic+vid and how to forum etc cause by branching off id hate to loose the benefits of the collective of knowledge

could be a case of biting more off than we can chew....a fantastic idea it would be, esp with all the lurkers and new members now but a technical nightmare im sure it will be....

As you say the stuff we would lose we would be too much, I kinda mentioned the idea of content sharing above. Because we are such a tiny community the chance of things you have to sell being wanted by those few here is very small. There are something bad things about the site but putting restrictions on the for sale stuff had to happen cause the site gets abused otherwise... see all the threads re the store etc. If it all goes away then we lose all the good things images/icons/frown.gif We have to be realistic, all bases will never get covered, you just have to work inside the options you have.

p.s. Campo hope the "you know what you are waiting for" stuff come thru soon images/icons/frown.gif

sorry, I've had meetings all day. Hell yeah, I have a server, lots of CPU, lots of space, I was hosting the Bike Torque (http://www.biketorque.net) forum for a while too. Piece of piss, Apache, PHP, phpBB, I could set one up in 5 minutes.

FYI, I host another biking site and its mailing list on it too. (WAR - Campo knows)
