: Scooters
Steve 1234 01-21-2003, 04:32 AM I was just wondering...
If we loose our licences, can we get around this by driving a small scooter around?
My Question is how big must the engine be before rego and licences are required.
SyMBi0TiK 01-21-2003, 05:18 AM yes yes...
i am also very interested...
i will buy one tomorrow if i dont need a license... graemlins/thumbup.gif
Dont quote me on this....
For scooters, a licence is required. In other countries, European esp, u dont need a licence to ride the 50cc scoots.
From my faint memory, without a licence, u can ride those fold-up scooters which is powered by a electric or petrol motor. Great mileage images/icons/grin.gif But i wouldnt take it out of the city because i dont think they go faster than a bicycle images/icons/wink.gif

imported_Ryan 01-21-2003, 06:00 AM i was told that if you lost your bike licence you loose you car as well is that right?
Drizzt 01-21-2003, 06:08 AM that is right, you lose both bike and car licence, i been on probatoin for no points for last 7 months, got a camera fine, if i take it I will lose licence for 6 months images/icons/frown.gif images/icons/frown.gif images/icons/frown.gif lucky i have someone that can take the point for me, but if i did lose the licence i would also lse car licence as well
if you lose your licence, your car and bike licences are gone...but if you take it ebfore the judge they may allow you to go get a scooter licence which allows u up to 100cc or so....
SyMBi0TiK 01-21-2003, 03:12 PM how do i go about getting one of these licenses...?
which judge do i need to beg... i mean kill... i mean ask... images/icons/grin.gif

Zed_R1000 01-22-2003, 06:10 AM Friend o' mine recently went looking into the scooter thing.
He got an 80cc scooter and needed a licence. He needed to go thru the whole Stay Upright / bike licence thing..
I think he found here in NSW, the entry threshold of a scooter licence is governed by hp not cc. Something like over 15hp images/icons/confused.gif ( or maybe 5hp or 0.5 or something )and you need a licence.

Over here you can get a scoot up to 50cc when you are 16 and 9 months (I think). I had a trip in Italy a few years ago and it was a gas listening to all the scooters late at night screaming around the tight little race tracks they have thru the streets with no packing in the exhasut or anything, they just screamed, (love that 2 stroke), so cool.. images/icons/smile.gif

Definitely less than 50cc. The only ones you can use is the small scooter things that look like the ones the kids stand on a push around but with a motor on, or one of those pushbikes with a motor attached as well.
Go Zotti! Gee that was funny! graemlins/thumbup.gif

SyMBi0TiK 01-23-2003, 07:04 AM if you are talking about what i think you are talking about (go-peds)... they are illegal... i used to own one and got plenty of shit from the cops for riding it around...
they can fine you for no license, unregistered/unroadworthy vehicle... etc etc...
i remember there was 5 charges he mentioned...
just gave me a warning on all 5 though... graemlins/thumbup.gif
now if only i could have that sort of luck with my speeding escapades... images/icons/mad.gif

But they are not illegal over here as far as I know. A mate of mine had one (the push bike with a motor on) and he was never pulled poved by cops and theyt past him on the road a few times. I have seen several over here but I do know there is a horsepower limit on them.
When he was in Vic he had more of a scooter thing (the ones the kids have these days) with a motor on the back of it.
Steve 1234 01-23-2003, 08:13 PM If it were by horsepower, you proberly wouldn't need a licence to ride an R1... graemlins/laugh.gif
Just joking, i like paying out the R1's
Someone has a good one in their sig pic saying "what the definition of a R1 rider? Someone that is pissed at being overtaken by gix 750's" , or something like that
SyMBi0TiK 01-25-2003, 02:56 AM yeah... not a bike with a motor...
what im thinking of is like a slightly bigger version of one of those "razor" scooters with a friction drive motor on it... images/icons/grin.gif
