Shannons only does classic cars and bikes. I think they will insure a modern vehicle if you already have an existing policy on a vintage one.

Are they exotics?

I know a guy that insures his Triumph T160 with Shannons, but his other bike (modern jap) is with Western QBE.

Well, on that tender page there is a smashed 1995 ZX-9R over east also. Check it out - do those rims look familiar? images/icons/confused.gif

The stolen one was the replacement Red 99 Zx-9R. That one got stolen in November 00 and October 01 graemlins/thumbdown.gif images/icons/mad.gif

I am thinking more and more "written off" bikes are getting back on the road easily now, must be easy cash and dosh in it for the repairers.

In November 2000 fro,m a block of units I was living in, the WEEK BEFORE I moved out!into my new house. Stolen by people who did not know what they were doing. Broke the steering lock with force, cracking the triple clamp right through. Pushed it away and tried to hotwire it but couldn't and it was found about 300m awat in another block of units.

2nd time was in October 2001. Stolen by a guy who DID know what he was doing. Saw him checking it out on the neighbours security camera (after it was stolen) and it took him less than a minute to steal it. Won't tell you how he stole it here on a public forum but lets just say that I now know how to steal a bike pretty damn quick! I ran outside, just in time to see him ride off down the street.

You can also see the road and path out front and just the edge of my place which is how we managed to see him. He walks past the camera in one direction looking back at my bike and then comes back the other way about 2 minutes later. 1 minute after that - no bike!!!
