Seems the south african team will become the number 1 test playing nation if they defeat pakistan in the next test. Not sure how it works but seems the system is a lil screwed.

This page explanes how it works ICC test table (http://www-usa.cricket.org/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/ICCTC/) , it still dosn't seem right tho, Australia have been by far the best team for the last few years.

The whole ranking thing is a mess, surely they can come up with something better, it just doesn't work right, how can a side that went down 6 zip (from memory) to Australia (3 here, 3 there) be No 1?

If memory serves me right SA did win the last test to make it 5-1 ...yeah even though i live in ZA i dont think this ranking system works very well.Without a doubt the aussie team is superior even though it kinda hurts a bit to say that graemlins/laugh.gif

images/icons/smile.gif yeah 5-1 could be right, how do you think they could work out the top teams, do we really need a ranking for anything other than bragging rights?

honestly, i don't really follow cricket too much, but i don't mind watching it if it's on tv... and all i know is that the aussies are all legends, and we deserve to be #1, not anyone else!

they should score points for each match...
and you should get say 3 points for a test win an 1 point for a 1day win...
there is no way to actually implement a system like this and i know nothing about cricket so i doubt it would work... images/icons/smile.gif

how do they rank the local state teams each year coz someone always has to finish first...?
