: OLD SKL VS NEW SKL, who is the king at the track !!!!!!!!
Gixxer1146 - Ryder ! 02-21-2006, 11:47 AM Hey guy's, i run a 93 gsxr1100 with ext. mods, everybody i know is braging on the new skl bikes, talking about how fast they are and how light they are to, me personally i like the old skl and the new skl, but i will line up beside any one of them any giving day, and we will see who can turn that finish bulb on first at the end of the track, to me also it's not about what bike you got, it's how good you ride your bike in my opion, and guy's i know plenty of guy's on new bikes thats done got there ASSES handed to them by some old skl bikes, and guy's have to admit i love it, OLD SKL NEVER DIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
perry 02-21-2006, 12:03 PM ok dont hold back just let everyone know how you feel. exhale

Gixxer1146 - Ryder ! 02-21-2006, 12:21 PM OLD SKL FOR LIFE, IS HOW I FEEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gsxr6659 02-21-2006, 12:49 PM haha i love this. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
well i got a 87 750, and its going to the track real soon....
we will see what happens.
oldgixxer 02-21-2006, 09:45 PM first real drag bike was a '84 GS-1150ES that I started running back in '90.It came with a whopping 115 or so HP,until:
Falicon pinned&trued crank w straightcut gears
FBG crank bearings
MRE billet clutch hub
1450 Arias pistons
o-ringed block&head
big valve head 31.5mm/28ex(stock is 26/24)
Cam motion cams
at least $10k to build the engine & I got EVERYTHING for cost http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Made 190rwhp&trapped at 152mph http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Next up was a '89 GSXR-750 w a 1371 engine.Made 185rwhp on C12/pump gas mix. That also cost a small fortune to build, but it stayed together vs.the GS which managed to destroy something every friggin weekend at the track http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Then we have my '92 GSXR-600 w a '95 1100 engine:
4mm Falicon stroker crank
Carillo rods
Superbikemike billet 1298cc block
Gann Stg3 big valve head
44 Megatrons
Cope sidewinder
etc
The head alone was $4000&should make 235rwhp with 16:1compression.It should be put together this springime...
Next up is the Busa.1397 kit, drop in cams, clutch mod,200 rwhp on pump gas.Never runs hot, ever.Cost me $2000,including the Yosh pipe.
Now my '05 GSXR-1000.Good ol Lee did his tricks on that bitch when it was brand new&fresh outta the crate,0 miles on it.Bar none, that is the BEST streetbike I've EVER ridden. They should all run like that.BLACK051K,you gotta take that bitch on a street ride with us this spring&see for yourself http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
All this typing is leading up to this:you cannot beat a modern bike for maximum HP for minimum cash.Aint gonna happen.
I LOVE old school bikes, shit,I have 3 of 'em that I'll never sell. But in the 17 yrs of dragracing and countless bikes I've owned/raced I have to say that you just cant beat the Busa's&1000's that we have today.Tell me one old school bike that you can put in pistons&drop in cams&get a reliable 200rwhp&120ft/lb torque every single day of the week?On pump gas.
Been there,done that http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Oh,and the Busa has been back to Carpenter twice since it had the 1397 done up 4 yrs ago,so it's makin just a lil bit more then 200hp now http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Gixxer1146 - Ryder ! 02-22-2006, 05:06 AM Hey old gixxer, i agree with you on the hp on the newer bikes vs the older bikes man, but there are some still older bikes out there that can run with them newer bikes still out there, i have seen it alot, i agree with you that you would have to spend alot of money to even get the hp from most of the high horse power newer bikes that they are making now days, and to me thats why alot of people are selling the older bikes for DIRT CHEAP because of that, most people i have talk to in the last couple of years say it's crazy to spend a lot of money in a old skl bike, me personally i have beaten 1000's on my bike, maybe not because of HP but just because i just out ridden him at the time, THANKS FOR THE INFO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oldgixxer 02-22-2006, 06:30 AM I agree 100% about them Ol Skool killa's,they are definitely out there!!
My old friend has a bad ass '82 GS-1100E runnin 8.**@16*+ and he weighs 220 without leathers on.Chris Williams,Shine,Rickey G,Tommy Micelli have all ridden his bike & it's tough for him to even get a race cuz everyone knows about the VooDoo bike&how fast that shit is http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I know exactly how fast the ol school bikes are cuz I had plenty,so I never sleep on ANY of them at the track cuz they're still capable of whoopin up on ya
Gixxer1146 - Ryder ! 02-23-2006, 03:39 AM YOUR'E TOTALY RIGHT YOU CAN'T FALL ASLEEP ON THE OLD SKL BIKES OR THE NEW SKL BIKES NOW DAYS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP GOING ROUNDS, HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
