: Nolz the SV and Eastern Creek!

well well well what can i say?....(that i havent already said in the million other posts)

ahhh the SV wow! that lil' yella bitch of a bike has me as sore as all hell! laugh as i did at those that have to crouch over their bikes and you will be punished with sore arms and legs that dont work when you take an SV650 to the track for a good work out!

being that its not the S model the ergonimics of the bike are centred more around cruising/commuting....and now i can confirm it images/icons/grin.gif

i can truly see why everyone raves on about the little twin though! what a load of fun!!!! after getting used to the initial twitchiness and body positiong whilst turning i really felt that with another track day i could truly hold my own...sure an extra 30hp wouldnt go astray but hey if it was my bike i would have given it a whole lot more and i reckon i would have been able to hold it with the rest of the B groupers.... (which seemed to just walk me between the corners into the straights...) you will be proud to know that i was rarely if ever passed mid corner or through a corner....and indeed made up alot of ground on others there through the corners....it was between them that i suffered images/icons/tongue.gif once again oweing to the fact that i was scared to go balls out with a bike that wasnt mine.

by the end of the day i was giving it a bit more between the corners holding a better corner speed and really getting onto the brakes....the other guys complained about brake fade but being a twin i think it has awesome engine braking ability, and the set of HEL SS lines i put on a few days prior did a helluva job also! faultless! i wont say a bad thing about the brakes at all....(mind you i aint no pro racer)

i certainly wasnt as quick with the SV as i was with my old gix 98 750 but it was probably more involving to ride the SV and alot more punishing on the body....

if it had of been an SV650S i feel things could be different being centred more around "race" it would have been alot more comfy.

the soreness i am feeling now is due to the weight i had to put on my arms becase of the raised handle bars also my legs! perhaps some will say its technique but when getting the knee down it felt as if i was going to fall off the bike!!!! mind you i look like i dwarf the darn thing images/icons/tongue.gif

as you can see in this pic ZedR1000 took of me coming down teh straight and getting ready for turn 1
http://www.gixxer.com/uploads/1039666720.jpg

i did see 200 going down the straight but thats not with optimum exit speed and set up before coming down the straight...like i said, i was tentative to give it heaps....

did wish it had more grunt though!

oh and how can i forget...i also wished it had a fairing images/icons/tongue.gif

mid corner stability wasnt a probelm it did feel quite composed and happy to be going around the bends images/icons/smile.gif so easy to pick up an change direction too!....very nimble!

still running the oem tyres which held up very well to the days running! only once did i get squirmy on the rear and i blame that more so on my bad body positioning and too much gas, as opposed to the tyre....

How was the suspension under hard braking, did it bottom out at all? It just goes to show how good even a basic 'runabout' bike are these days, you would rarely get a dud bike now. We are spoilt with fine bikes.. ain't it great images/icons/smile.gif
Thx for the write up.

it didnt bottom out but from teh marks on the forks it would have come mighty close it does if i had to say something about the front suspension...upon braking it did dive an awful lot...

but on the other hand it soaks up bumps and cracks in the track very well mid corner over bumps and cracks it didnt make me nervous at all....not as bad as worrying that i would fall off the bike whilst in a lean images/icons/tongue.gif

i am 180cm tall and 85kg if that is some sort of a comparing point....

i would say that im too tall to be riding the bike like that.

It isn't *that* small, that SVS clipons and a full fairing wouldn't fix, is it?

you can see though, in that pic how cramped my arms are...and the tank being tall and narrow makes it hard to grip with my outside leg mid corner....and i move back in the seat cos my fat ass hits the pillion seat images/icons/tongue.gif
