Perry,

Now, you've got plenty space to mount bottle for Airshifter or N20 if need be .
You've got to be at 62" WB already , Right? IMO ... wouldnt go more than 62"
to avoid crazy wheelspin.

you are exactly right. air shifter will be next as soon as the funds are availible. the thing rides pretty good also. i was expecting this horrible ride but it isnt that bad.

Yeah tell me about it , as soon as you throw your leg over the seat
and sit down, you know its a for drag'n. I'm at 59.5 " only one inch over busa's wheelbase it is rock solid at high speeds no more twicthiness above 170's like before, and with the bottle i've got a few extra ponies to keep pulling hard. The added stability, kinda lets you relax at those speeds........which is not a good thing.

I've seen 1k stretched as far as 68". On a well prepped track they haven't been spinning.

Perry - do you have some contact info or web address? What did you pay for them?

68" ........ must be set up correctly, is Right. with a jockey 240lbs and over

The guy I was watching was a tooth pick. The rider was probably 180 lbs in gear, stretched 68" with a lock up clutch and a turbo. If I remember correctly he was running mid 8's around 170 mph. This was on a 2003 GSXR 1000. And DA was around 3500 feet.

im spinning in first with the stock tire. i have a 200 shinko but i dont know if it will fit. it may rub on the right side theres not much clearance. the tire may fit at normal pressure but when i lower it to 10 or 12 psi it may rub. ill try it later this week. im also 175 pnds not suited up.

Perry,lookin real good http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
If you have the chassis set up properly you shouldnt have wheelspin issues.
I ordered a Penske drag shock custom for my wheelbase&weight, looking forward to having Lee dial it in at the track with me next month as he is the King on chassis set up http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

black051k gave me a setting to try and it helped out alot. i was spinning also in 2nd before the setting change, but after trying his suggestion im hooking up in 2nd now. i think i just need to soften up the rear even more and that may help weight transfer. with my weight im not squating the rear end that much. a friend of mine rode it today and hes about 230 pnds. it hooked up in 1st for him and it was squating. on a side note he is a zx12 owner and getting ready to buy the new bmw14 or the zx14 whoever makes it, but when he came back he was laughing pretty hard and all he could say was holy shit that thing pulls so hard now.

Yeah, I know what you mean. i'll usually post all drag and stretch related materials on
on hayabusa or Dragbike forums, till you guys (you know who you are ) started opening/creating conversations on this topic.

Looks good Perry. I ended going with Yana shiki's for my K5. They look identical to yours. I bought the 4"- 6" though. Have you tried lowering 3" in the back?

Here's a pic of my Busa. 6" over, 3" down

very nice busa. i have heard of clearance issues with the 3" drop. i ride mine everyday to work about 10 months a year and the roads around here arent the best. but they do look better with a 3" drop

My 06 1000 is stretched to 63 inch base.........I also run the shinko supersoft at about 10psi. 1.5 60ft consistant. We dont have a 1/4 mile track here but at the 1/8 mile it runs 6.3 @ 114mph.....thats with a slip on and +2 in the rear. No power commander on that pass. I did order a new exhaust , PC and KN filter

I wouldnt go much lower then 3" with the stock arm, you'll have clearance issues with the box on top of the arm

Very nice bike. I went to the track last night after the gears and stretch kit. my 60 foot was the same around 1.70, i was still spinning some. But i did get one good pass in at 9.7 at 145. so i was pretty happy but need to learn to launch better.

if you are spinning shorten the wheelbase up a little

Rockin C Racing
06-22-2006, 09:38 AM
Not always the case. Plenty of other bikes out there at that length or longer with more power that are not spinning. Play with suspension. Alot can be done with that.

i am not saying his is making to much power for the wheelbase

i am saying he is not making enough

what happens is if you go to long and don't have the power to shift the bike to the rear tire then its not going to grip as good

if he was a heavy rider he would be fine

but i would start shorten the wheelbase but an inch then see where that gets you
also loosen up the rear shock so the bike will transfer all the wieght to the reat tire :punk

Rockin C Racing
06-22-2006, 02:54 PM
I agree. All I was saying is to try adjusting the rear suspension before shortening the wheelbase. The key is to only make one change at a time, test and evaluate the results.

perry
06-24-2006, 05:52 PM
ive done some more adjustments on the rear witch is maxed out now and put little more rebound in the front to try to get better weight transfer. it helped alittle on the street so it should help alot at the track. i either let the clutch out to quick and it bogs alittle or i slip it to much and it allows the rpms to get to high so then it starts to spin i just need to practice and find the sweet spot. i think the bike will run 9.5 i just dont know if i can get it down that far, but a 9.7 with a 1.7 60ft isnt to bad but if i can get like a 1.5 60ft that will be great.

What pressure you running your tire at. i would switch to the shinko tire. this stopped my wheel spin issues unless i get crazy and allowed me to wheelie a strecthed slammed bike!!! ur bike is bad ass that fir sure i really like the way those bolt ons look.

Get your 60' down into the 1.5 range and your ET will definitely decrease. I agree with the guys about adjusting your shock to make it squat harder. I am only 130 lbs and I keep my bike at 60" wheelbase. I really need the weight transfer. You also want to run it as short as you can without wheelieing because the longer you make the bike the more horsepower you waste (because of more rotating mass).

Run a good tire and you can run low 9's high 8's with a little more practice!!! When you race it you might want to lower the back a little more to get the swingarm level with the ground. Tire pressure also affects your time and MPH. The more pressure that you can run without spinning will increase your MPH. I try and run at least 25 psi when the track is prepped good.

My best time was two weeks ago at Rockingham Dragway
9.08 @ 149 on an 01 model GSXR 1000 with 155 HP. I think she has a little more in her and maybe I can break into the 8's.

Your model bike has about 20 more HP than mine with the same mods. Just get some seat time on the bike and the times will drop!!!

now thats fast on a 2001 model. shock is adjusted about as far as it can go. i was running about 15 psi in the rear anymore it just spins. our track is never prepped worth a shit i was spinning in 2nd alittle almost every run. ive been thinking about lowering it to the last hole.

I had the same problem with tagging 2nd gear and some times 3rd with a Michelin Pilot Power. Switched to a Mickey MCR2 and problem was solved. I have a street set of wheels and a race set. The Pilot Power would hook pretty good for me at the track, but not as good as the Mickey. That little bit of spin was affecting my ET!!!

The main thing is to get it low, extended, an air shifter and lots and lots of practice. Pay special attention to your 60 foot times. I'm still working on mine.

Sounds like something is off on your bike if it only makes 151 HP with those mods. If a stage 2 @ Lee's is Head Work and Cams then you should be alot closer to 180 HP. My '01 1000 makes 155 HP with stock motor with MR9 and around 150 HP on pump gas.
