Need some help with tyres. Gotta change my tyres soon and I was considering using Avons. I posted a message on the forum some while back asking what was the best tyre to use...no one mentioned Avons (that's because they're all yanks on here and don't know what Avons are). I know Avon is big back home, so do any of you guys use them and what are they like for road use ?

to my understanding the azero's are good tyres (to be honest, you cannot buy a bad tyre off the shelf these days) but maybe work better for the heavier bikes.

my choice, where mileage does come into it without affecting outright grip to much is either the Metxeler M1's or the BT010's and go for what ever place will give you the best deal out of them.

My M1's, 2000 miles on the rear and i'd say at half wear at most, front will last a good 6000 miles.

I haven't ran Avons since back in my RD350 days.

Didn't Avon go bust at one point?

Michelins and bridgestones are what i have been running over the last few years.

BT010 gets my vote at the moment.

One of the bike mags had a test and the Bridgestone 020's came out on top in the dry AND wet.
My friend has 010's and loves them.
My tyre shop refused to sell me a set of 020's to save me money (in the nicest possable way) and told me to stick with the standard Michilins as a good allrounder, but I've heard they slide.
Depends on the rider and usage

By the way the test was riding a ZX6R, NOT a heavier & BIGGER tyred 750, it might make a difference

Nah.............. images/icons/frown.gif you want Metzeler Rennsports or Pirelli evo supercorsas or evo corsas' graemlins/thumbup.gif they mix as they are made by the same company ! I have tries Dunlop 207's, Avon Azaro's but am moving back to the old Metz/Pirelli's this year graemlins/bannana.gif , they are far more stable and add to my confidence graemlins/burnout.gif graemlins/burnout.gif .......

I like Dunlop 207 sportmax, they are great tires, I had them on my 2k SRAD. Look good, bubble gum well and not too pricey
I now have Dragon Corsas on the 2k Gix, they are OK but I am not really convinced.
My bestest buddy swears bu Michelin Pilots, but I cant say from personal experience. Only ever had Avon tires on the car, I heard they were not too good in the wet, but as I say, I only heard that.
How about Bridgestones? The BT range is a great dual compound tyre, good for scratching and good for touring...I had them on my ZZR and they did exactly what it said on the tin! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
