hey guys,

my bro just moved to AZ and is loving it (we're from pittsburgh...land of the steelers and shitty weather...).

i'm tempted to pick up an apartment with him, but I don't know about the racing/track scene around AZ.

currently, im 45 mins from beaverun motorsports park, 3 hours from summit main, 9 hours from VIR and prolly 16 hours from road atlanta.

if i had the loot, i'd move to san diego or nearby. but i hear that's wayy to pricey. i've also heard most jobs pay significantly higher in cali and that this offsets the high price of living. true/false?

if i move to tucson, Az w/ my bro (pretty decent apartment prices), what would my situation be as far as the tracks that would be with 8-9 hours driving distance?

i know http://www.arizonamotorsportspark.com/ is close by and looks pretty good. any of you guys ride the track?

i think willow springs is also 6 hours away or so.
laguna seca looks like it's 8 or 9 hours away...

is this correct?

also, one of my major worries is how f-ing hot it gets in AZ over the summer months. i hear tucson gets into the 120's.....
that sounds unbearable, and prolly would melt your damn tires at any track...

any other info you AZ guys can give me would be appreciated.

thnx!

~James

tell your brother to look me up. i live in tucson and do trackdays in phoenix at firebird. there is also arroyo seca in new mexico. about 3 hrs away. i have to say the tracks out west are different than east, but at least its year round riding. if you wanna chat more about it, let me know. come visit your bro, i have a dual trailer and we could do a weekend at the track.

There are 4 seperate tracks at the Firebird Sports Complex, track in Vegas, several in Cali and one in NM. All within the time frame you are considering. There is not a huge sportbike following in Tucson, but several GSXR guys post on here from there. There are a few good rides down there, most are up north. Overall, AZ is a great place to ride (year round) compared to back east. Take a trip out.

There are actually two tracks in NM. Arroyo Seco is worth the drive, Sandia isn't IMO.
