hi

just wondering if anybody on the board lives in either of the Carolinas... I was thinking of moving down there.. how do you like it.. are the people nice and not to start a fight but which one is better north or south...

I'm only a high school teacher so I won't be making a tone of cash... likely around 40k a year.. how expensive is it to live there...

Thanks... sorry for the weird questions

I lived in Charlotte for awhile and used to do contract work all over the Carolinas ... cost of living depends on where you are looking to live .... Charlotte has a lot higher cost of living than where I live now ... are you looking for a large, small, med sized town?? Are you wanting to live closer to the beaches or are you leaning toward the mountains?? A lot of options really ... personally I like the area west of Charlotte going towards Maggie Valley as far as NC ... with SC I really like the Spartenburg/Greenville area ... like I said it really depends on what you are looking for. There are several small towns I would move to in either state if the money was right if you know whatt I mean.

I live in Matthews N.C. I like North Carolina better then South Carolina but, that's just an opinion. It is cheaper to live in South Carolina. No helmet law in South Carolina but,North Carolina has one. graemlins/burnout.gif

OK here come the dumb questions images/icons/smile.gif

Does it snow in the Carolinas?

I take it there’s a big difference between them in terms of scenery...

People are nice???

Thanks.. Sorry again for the dumb questions

I live fairly close to monstrvtwin, in a small town called Weddington just SE of Charlotte.

Yes, we get snow once or twice per year... there's no equipment for handling it, so 2" of snow will cripple the Metro Charlotte area for a couple of days images/icons/rolleyes.gif

It's like anywhere else... whether "people are nice" depends entirely on you. This is the "Bible Belt" so there is an awful lot of religious horseshit but mostly it's pretty cool.

I have lived in both NC and SC. I am in the military so live near the coast. The scenery is very different. SC is more swamps(near the coast). People are nice in both but they always have that yankee comment ready if your being an ass. The cost of living was much cheaper in NC but that was because of where I lived. Housing here in SC is not easy to find which makes it more expensive. I plan to retire down here and I am from PA so that should tell you how I feel. It does snow in both but very little compared to the north. It will depend on where you move as your cost of living, and income...hope this helps
