The AMA races are July 25-27. It is scheduled to be a double header weekend again this year. You can check cyclenews.com (http://cyclenews.com) for the schedule. Last I looked the schedule still had some pending dates but Mid Ohio was a lock.

I am going if the wife will let me (baby is due May 29).

Mid Ohio is a nice facility. The pit areas are nicer than Road America. You can watch the teams from the top of the pit garages. It has good spectator areas. I have been to both, I think I like Elkhart better as a track but Mid Ohio is closer and still a good facility.

My only real gripe with Mid Ohio is the firm handed security. No personal troubles but I have heard lots of stories.

As we get get closer, maybe some of us can hook up for the trip.

I'll be there 3 times this year riding as well as for the AMA race, can't wait. Here is a link if you want to ride there www.sportbiketracktime.com (http://www.sportbiketracktime.com) , you get a lot of track time and it makes watching the AMA guys a lot more fun as you realize how slow you were.

GSXR 750 - Thanks for the link. I can't do it this year, but I hope to have a track day bike next year. (At least I am going to tell my wife it is for track days not racing! graemlins/laugh.gif ) Maybe I'll see you at Grattan this year also.

SRAINEY - I am trying to find the info on the hotel I stayed at previously to book my reservations. I'll post the info as soon as I do. You should book early. Everything except the campgrounds fill up quickly.

Me and the guys I ride with will be there. This will make 4 years for us. We tow campers up and stay down in the S turns. Best place to stay so when the races are over you can get out quick. Last year kinda sucked cause the cops were being rude. Wouldnt hardly let anything go on, finally around 2am the cops dissapeared and the games began on friday; not much saturday at all. After everyone relocated to the other little town, 2 of my buddies did stand ups past the cops and the chase was on. THAT WAS SOME FUNNY SHIT.cant wait to see what happens this year

Finally got off my ass and made my reservations. I am at the best western in Mt. Gilead. About 20 miles from the track. Alot of the hotels I checked were full.

A buddy & I went last year. we got lucky and were able to "camp" over on the RV side. There was a large black bus and Lincoln Continental on the tree line and a stationary tow-camper behind us. The group in the stationary camper was great. Semi-peaceful with a pit-fire until midnight or so. We socialized with them during Saturday and had no problem or hassle pitching a tent amoung theirs. This did two things...avoided the camping charges and the OBNOXIOUS ZOO over in the camping area. Still, you gotta take a walking tour of the camping area after the races and during the night. We met mostly very nice folks and shared some good beer (free was the best http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) Oh, and lots of women showing (not flashing) their tits...if you're into that sort of thing http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gif There is a shower facility near the pits, so bring a dollar, soap and a towel...and go early in the morning.

Also, If you're gonna camp, load up your coolers (more than one) with fluids & food.

One thing I don't understand...they forbid any use of bicycles. We brought our mountain bikes intending to get around the track but were hassled at the gate to" leave them on the roof or get kicked out" so we left them on the roof. But you can bring a golf cart, scooter, or mini-bike and thrash around so shit-faced you can't see your front tire, running everyone over http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif They claimed we could get hurt on the bikes. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif I suppose only if we couldn't get out tof the way any faster than a pedestrian.

I won't be there this year, I'm going to Brainerd.
