: Dealers suck. Well, most of them...

I've been shopping around for an '03 750 and have run into asshole after asshole...

I posted on here a while back about which shops I could call in the Ottawa/Toronto/Montreal area that could get me a good deal.

I actaully received a very good price from 2wicked (Richard) @ Boyds Racing, right here on this board. Obviously, I'm looking for the best price, so I started shopping around here (Ottawa) as well to see what kind of price I could get.

To make a long story short, I kept running into the same BS here in Ottawa -- no one would come close to the price... all were $600-$700 more expensive, all claimed "we aren't just gonna sell you a bike and tell you to fuck off..." ??? Like, what's that supposed to mean? You'll be my friend if I pay an extra $600+? Everyone knows that any certified dealer can do warranty work if you're bike is still under warranty, so you don't have anything to offer other than a bigger dent in my wallet.

Anyways, needless to say I was a little frustrated. I thought things would be easier, and that pricing would be more competitive. I also felt that most of these places had no respect for me as a buyer.

So, with all that said, Richard (2Wicked) from Boyds is getting my business. There was absolutely no haggling, great price, and he's done nothing but help me since I first inquired about the purchase. Local dealers took 2-3 days just to return my calls, and the worst that's happened with this guy was a 4 hour wait for an email reply last week. There's something to be said in this day and age about good service, those are the places that deserve my business -- and that's why Boyds Racing is getting my money.

Now let's just hope this financing thing goes through images/icons/wink.gif I hate asking pops for the co-sign... lol

If you had money to put down, or something to trade in, they may have given you better deal. From what I could tell by reading your stories about bike shipping, you look like the kinda guy who just wants to buy a bike, at the price you aked for, have everything go your way, and just leave. Loyal customers is what dealers look for. They are not all there just to make money. Most of them want to build a good relationship with their customer base.

I hope everything goes well and theat you can join us this summer ...

Andre, my point is simple.

These guys try to convince me that it's worth paying extra just so I can deal with them. My point is the opposite, it isn't worth it (not with the amount in question). Why spend an extra $700? What do I get for those $700? That's enough for a sweet new helmet (which I need).

I don't have a trade in, I have cash -- and I made that clear. I could walk in there and buy it outright -- I even mentioned that in the places I walked into, but got nothing in return. I'm simply looking at financing now so I can take advantage of the 0 down/interest until July special that Suzuki is offering... so I'm not a difficult sale at this point.

I'm about to drop over $13K in a shop, and all I'm expecting from a measily sales guy is a reasonable price or counter offer as well as informative answers to my basic questions. If that is "expecting too much", then pardon me -- I guess I'm just too demanding.

As far as "not respecting me as a buyer" -- I was clearly 'brushed off' wherever I went. I'm buying this, I'm not in here on impulse -- answer my fucking questions rather than talk down to me and call me back when you say you will. I asked a simple question about financing, and a particular guy (that everyone told me to talk to) said "I don't know any details". He's supposed to be a salesman, yet he didn't know anything regarding available financing options.

Sorry if I'm shitting all over your head here Crotch, I'm just flustered by all this. It seems like no matter how many times I try to buy a new ride, I run into the same crap...

Hey man,
you know it's worth it to go 'out of town' to get a deal on a bike (or car or anything for that matter).
I'm not trying to 'put down' Ottawa or anything, but i have a couple friends that came down to T.O. from Ottawa to buy their bikes... The bike market in T.O. and surrounding area is allot larger than in Ottawa, so the dealerships have to stay competitive with each other. The few guys i know that came down from Ottawa got great deals!
You should look into it....
I don't know how this price compares to what quotes you got, but a friend of mine just bought a blu/blk/wht '03 750 for $13100 (taxes PDI everything included!) and they threw in the extended warranty and the shop will change his exhaust and do all that stuff, and they won't void the warranty...PM me if you have any questions

Hey Al, thanks for the praise, and for some of the other concerns in this thread. Such as good customer relations and service, my dealership strives to be one of the best in Ontario. We are not as big as some of the other dealerships, but our customer base continues to grow steadily as we take the time to deal with the customers directly and quickly while offering great deals on the bikes and parts and accs. Also as far as service work goes, we can do it all. If you want an exhaust system, nitrous kit, turbo system, custom length swingarm, race fairings. Or maybe a simple oil and filter change, or tire install and balance while you wait (without any scratches) We do it all right at the dealership. Thanks again Al. Richard

I was just trying to understand what went on. Also keep in mind that they don't have all the financing details because they're not the ones doing the financing (BLC does) and they don't have all the information from Suzuki yet either. I do understand your point of view though.

It really irrates me how some stealerships treat potential customers like garbage. I went to a Suzuki exclusive dealership and they were giving me one word answers to all my questions and made no attempt to attract me as a buyer. It's like the rep didn't want to even be there. The guy barely even knew the current promo that Suzuki has. Then when I'm about to leave he gives me his card and says come back and I'll beat whatever price you find elsewhere. With shitty service like that I'd rather go someplace else and pay more. But at least the salesrep will actually pay attention to my questions. I ended up buying from McBride Cycle in Toronto. The guy spent a good 45 minutes with me answering as well as asking questions. He gave me a great price as well as discounts on in house goods, included a free membership to their bike club and gave me a tour of their complete facility. graemlins/thumbup.gif Pick up my 600 in April. graemlins/thumbup.gif

Brampton Suzuki hasn't let me down, and McBrides has been excellent. I found that they approached me WAY faster when I showed up in bike gear though compared to when I showed up in sneakers and a Tshirt. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bounce.gif (just a random observation; they're good guys)

Hatthi: Give me a buzz in April when you pick up your 600! We'll go for a T.O. tour and give you some opportunities to show it off. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You said that you talked to Shain, right? I went in yesterday and bugged him about it for awhile! He said he couldn't remeber anyone coming in....I guess it didn't help that i had no idea what you looked like!

Next time you see him tell him the guy came in with his wife and asked about the 600's. I'm about 6 ft tall & 220 pounds. Black shrt hair. I took a flyer with the bikes and he gave me his business card. I think it was around 10:30am on Friday the 7th. I think I said Saturday before by mistake.
Hey Brolo! I'll give you a shout after I get the bike. I haven't ridden anything since I was a kid so I'll be getting used to the bike for a few days before I start riding anywhere downtown. Some of my friends ride already so we'll hook up for sure!!
