....this has been bothering me. Many here know me, so bear with me. I have had my 04 750 since last summer. It is my 3rd bike. I like to consider myself great at long distance wheelies. On my old bikes, I was pulling them for 3+ miles. Here is my question. How (Or what am I doing wrong) am I to get 3rd gear on my bike up on the freeway? I know she will do it, as I have done it on a 01 750 and an 03 600. My bike is all stock except for the Yoshimura TRS bolt on. What do I need to do?
Now I have kinda of gotten away from wheelies, so I have not been practicing much. What rpms, how fast, etc. for a bounce on the freeway? Thanks.

I guess I don't understand your question. Are you trying to pull it up in third? If yes, it is very very hard. I never pull it up in third even on my k5. On my 750 I had to pop the shit out of the clutch to get it up over 50 mph in 2nd. If I wanted to ride it further I would just shift into third while I was already up.

Practice. Like you said, it can be done. On my 05 it is easiest at around 70 (whats that, about 9k rpm). Staggard standup with a bounce and clutch and make sure to shift your weight back after bouncing. I have never tried anything other than slow stuff on an 01-03 but I am sure it wont have a problem with the right technique.

haha not this again
i'm geared -1 +1 so its hard to say. I can clutch mine up and it is really smooth. But it'll of coarse bounce up as well. Can you bounce 2nd up? Maybe its just your timing. I tried it in 3rd AND 4th when she was bone stock - and it came up. Now I never got to 3mile wheelies, but ya back in the day I had the ole telefonica 600 at a mile before I'd finally set her down.
start back at the basics I guess http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
2nd gear sit downs and stand ups, then a little more oomph for 3rd gear bounce ups. Shoot - I say gear it. Even a 750 needs atleast a -1. its 17/43 as it is. Get her 16/43.

Yeah I can bounce up 2nd, and it comes up and comes up FAST at 40. Like you, I have kinda gotten away from the wheelie scene. I tried 3rd gear yesterday at around 70mph. Acted like she wanted to come up.

well, speed up a little bit to maybe 75ish or so. After you get it down a better slow down a bit. Strange but I think I actually had a problem with 3rd bouncing correctly at lower speeds too. But then again it had been so long. Plus - like i said things have changed with the gearing, and how much I actually wheelies. It was only a week ago that I actually tried to clutch it in 3rd for the first time. I've had the thing for a year. It didn't work the 1st time, then it just came up completly smooth and beautiful the 2nd. just a bit more effort probably http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
