Gixxer1146 - Ryder ! 01-17-2006, 01:36 PM PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, AND YOU WILL GET BETTER.................
Rockin C Racing 01-18-2006, 01:47 AM As said before, practice. But also take it easy and don't rush into things. The bike you have has about the same power as the 600's produced now days that all new riders seem to be getting.
perry 01-18-2006, 10:54 AM hey just take your time and at the begining launch very easy. just find a zone where you are confterable and stay there and slowly work you way up. thats what i did on mine. i went from 10.4 to 9.9 just slowly working my way up. just be safe and ride at your own pace. and have some fun. also when you get pretty good at it just start ordering clutches you will need them
B-dawg 01-19-2006, 05:30 AM start off slow and work way up. even being a lightweight i went thru same thing. of course i started on FZR400 and went to GSxr600 then 750 to liter bike and Turbo bike. just ride within your limits and practice, practice and practice some more. there really is no replacement in drag racing a bike than experience.

hayabusa05 01-27-2006, 06:34 AM u have a good starter bike for everything u want to do that bike produces around 70-80 horsepower dont do anything to it till u get used to it but when u get it down and u feel ur ready for more upgrade parts first a new exaust vance and hines r crap for sportbikes go for a yosh or a scorpion personal pref would be akropovic but thats cash
shiphteey 01-30-2006, 02:28 AM Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
I'm not much bigger @ 5'6" and 125 lbs.
I started riding on mopeds/scooters
Moved up to a ninja 250.
Then the FZR 600.
Up to that point I would say I was alright...I enjoyed the increase in HP and it wasn't too wild for me as far as straight line. I put more than 1 R6 in their place w/the old fizzer.
But then I jumped up to the Gsxr 750 1989. However it had an 87 1100 motor crammed into it! On top of that I was -1 front and + 3 rear!
Needless to say that bike was impossible for me to launch! Even moreso than my nitrous zx12r! It was just too much torque and gearing all in a fairly light bike (compared to my 12 which is longer and lower)
I never really got used to launching it to be honest. I loved that bike though, don't get me wrong. But I kept sliding back on my seat, it would always want to wheelie and it was hard to preload the shifter sliding back! No such issues w/my 12R even though it pulls harder.
I have also gone thru 2 Honda F2 cbr 600s. Those older 600s are on par 2/your 750. I'm fine launching those. Get LOW and forward. Start w/low RPMS and learn going wide open on em as sooon as you can.
1st will always be a matter of being smooth w/the gas and clutch. But the good thing about your older 750 (and my older 600s) is that they won't keep coming up and wheelying on you after 1st much. Occaisionally it will come up for me in 2nd but its slower and more progressive. Now i launch my 600 no lower than 8k. Sometimes 9-10k!
Good luck. I think you are ok w/it but practice practice. If you shave only 1/10 of a second off @ a time you are ahead of the game! Get some consisstent 1.7 60 ft times and then go for 1.6s!

I don't mean to blow the lid off your fantasy, but my '88 750 (92 motor) has beaten its share of new 600s. If I ever get my 1216...*drool*
Gixxer1146 - Ryder ! 01-31-2006, 03:16 PM It's just like the man said before, your bike is NOTHING like the new 600's, and thre HP is not the same either, so don't believe that SH*T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shiphteey 02-01-2006, 01:57 AM As a former owner of 2 600s and still an owner of another 600 as well as a former owner of a 1052 gsxr 1100 in a 750 and a zx12R owner....
I gotta say that sure the newer 600s would walk the older 750...
....however a buddy of mine has a telefonica and when we used to run off the light, on the hwy, whatever against my old 1052cc I would always get the jump and was ALWAYS able to keep him there. Not as much of a difference on the tippy top end as I would have thought but once you're moving the torque and HP of the bigger motors comes into play HARD.
You're on a comparable 600 and you think you can consistently beat a 1216?
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rotflol.gif
With the right rider and mods a 6 can beat an older 1100...or 1216 in the case you're claiming...but as long as both have a decent launch trust me on this....
he's running you're 01 gixxer 600 down @ the back end. My 1052 used to trap a lowly 130 mph because it wasn't geared right and wasn't completely tuned. An extra 164 ccs tuned correctly?
My 12 bone stock traps 142 on the limiter in 3rd.
I would guess the 1216 would be in the mid-high 130s EASY.
So no, in the 1/4 I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that claim. Overall you will get passed .... at the lastest by the 1000ft mark....at the latest.
I love the FI 600s like the next guy but you gotta be a little realistic. Thats SIMILAR (not the same I admit) to claiming your 600 beats 1st gen R1s. It CAN happen but bike for bike....sorry but you're wrong.

Mine trapped consistently at 131mph when it was stock-bore 1127. I trap at 150+ now. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
shiphteey 02-01-2006, 03:02 AM Damn you Fastcat! I swear to GOD you're ALWAYS like 3 mph ahead of me or some shit.
I get a 1052, you get an 1127.
I get a 12, you spray your 1127.
I spray the 12, you lowere and stretch and gear your 1127!
FAAACK!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Hah. You guys take everything so serious.
No, i didnt say they were in anyway better than new bikes, I was just trying to say that they arent so slow that you need to pedal them to start the motors like someone was implying.
I didn't say you have a small d*ck or anything. Chill out.

LOL ...and what's up my sleeve this season you ask? Well, I started spraying a little in 2004. I sprayed pretty heavy last year, and this year, I'm building a system to spray the F*CK out of it! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
FWIW, I bet your 12 goes around corners better than my gixxer does... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
shiphteey 02-02-2006, 03:42 AM Don't know bout that last part....I'm dropped 2" ... although you're extended....
Ok, end hijack!
