Will the engine be starved for oil when doing long wheelies? I just done my first, 1st through 4th wheelie on my 06 1K, I sit it down at around 120, after I did it, I thought about the oil. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif

I've been well over 5 miles on a wheelie many many times. No problem. I think that was just on the v-twins (TL & TLR)
btw. I rarely ever use 1st gear, and sometimes i just stay in 5th and don't bother with shifting to 6th. good luck

Another squid ready to bite the dust. Just make sure you populate ebay with your broken ass bike. Crash.

if you going to be rocking them through the gears like that at that speed, you might consider getting the oil pan pickup to prevent starvation while on one.

I wonder what it'd feel like having the motor lock up at 120 on the back wheel http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I guess I'll give it some time and let somebody else answer that for me http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Why the hostile comments? I would expect these on the track forum but this is the stunt forum and we are all suppose to dig wheelies here.

As far as your question. I have never gone past a mile but I have popped a many of high speed high rpm wheelies on my 02 750 and it still runs great. I believe the k5 has a wet sump which always feeds oil to the motor. Well someone told me that so that is hearsay I don't know for sure.

Watch the Oil light, if it comes on set it down.......... You shouldn't have any trouble unless you are rocking 12's

Yea dont keep riding wheelies through the gears find BP.

As for the oil starvation, Ive heard different stories, KaneOne stunted his K1 Gix1000 for 3 years with out a oil pick up untill the engine blew...others arent so lucky, so I'de say spend the 70 bux or whatever they cost I kno its not much, and invest in one. It'll be cheaper to be safe instead of finding out u did need one the hard way.

okay, i have heard from so many people "go about 20-25, then bring in clutch a little, rev it up to about 8k rpms, let out clutch." but when i see videos of on bike cameras, they rev the engine a good 4-5k revs above what the pulled it in at. it seems like you really have to whack the throttle back to get it up. ??? also, when does reving to high/staying in high revs get to be damaging to your engine? i see videos of guys reving the FUCK out of their bikes to wheelie them (power wheelies) or just clutching and staying in high revs while riding it out. any help appreciated.

yea everyone says that so ppl dont go out and bounce rev and dump the clutch and land on their asses. Start small with baby steps. dont try to shoot the front end up to balance point the first time u try to wheelie, when the wheels a foot off the ground for the first time it'll scare you and u will think its higher than it is.

How much u have to clutch it depends on the bike...On my F4i yea I gotta give it a good amount of throttle in 2nd, if i tried to give a 750 or 1000 the same amount of throttle when i clutch it ide loop.

Its not the reving thats damaging the engine, these bikes are made to be abused a fair amount theyre made for performance...its the fact that theres NO OIL being fed into the engine while in a wheelie on gixxers because of the placement of the oil pick-up, and honestly oil pick ups are a good idea for bikes that dont need one...madd ppl have told me to pick one up for my CBR instead of over filling it, told me its really smooth on one wheel with one installed.

thanks for the info. its just that i have been doing like everyone says and i havent been getting it up more than a few inches (feels like 6, probly like 3). i am comfortable with what the bike does when i do it, just thought i was letting out the clutch wrong or at the wrong time. but will slowly add rpms and see what happens. thanx again
