After the rain day >:/ SevenFittyMadness took me to get a trailer so I could tote the
bike to the track. I got to the track the next day at 7 30 AM. Unloaded.
The track had a puddle of water on it and the track crew was drying it off.
The Head cornerworker *craig* I think is his name. He let us know that our
ride time was going to be different than the day before. Instead of riding
with the students, we were going to be allowed to ride the track in between
each session by ourselves *cornerworkers only*!!!!!! THAT WAS FRIGGIN
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Cornerworkers bikes consisted of 2 Yami oners, 1 Aprilla
Mille R, 1 '99 CBR 600, 1 Kawi ZX7 and I. I blew the Kow and the 2 yami
oners doors off each session! They would try to get me on the straights,
but I still smoked 'em! That was an awesome feeling! then again, it's just
the riders, not the bike! We rode for most of 25 minutes each session.
My assesment.
After the fist day, like Ric, I was frustrated. I was trying to remember
all the things I was supposed to do.
YTRY2: "Tuck your opposite heel into the rearsets, lock your knee onto the
tank, push the ball of your foot down on the peg as you lean into the
corner, keep your foot pointed in...no duckfoot!! Relax your arms and let
the bike do the work."
Well halfway through the AM session of wednesday, I couldn't remember sheeit
excpet to lean of the bike and keep my ass crack on the edge of the seat.
SO needless to say I had some trouble at first. The H2's are what gave me
the confidence to corner Turn 1 at 95 though, even with those NASTY A**
bumps on the track! Lunch time riding for cornerworkers.
I was just getting the hang of it. Things were coming together for me. I
was leaning correctly, I was jamming on the brakes at the right times coming
into turn 3. I was having full confidence in the tires!
RAIN came.
Second day. This was it, I was going to incorporate all of the things I was
to do and find my lines in the corners. I was going to let the bike do the
work! By the second time I was on the track yesterday morning, I had full
confindence in the tires, I knew exactly when they were warmed up, I knew
exactly how fast I could go out of turn 1/2 into turn 3 to the hairpin. I
had that hairpin down tight!!! Out of turn eight to the front straight, I
was hittin 115, 120's on the front straight. 115 usually off the gas into
turn 1..slow to 97 was my fastest in it. Shot out to 117-122mph on the back
straight..dip left to straightaway to turn 3..JAM on the brakes from 100 to
40mph in like 3-4 secs. hit the X and dip the bike left hard to come out
and hit 65-70mph to the horseshoe. 55-60 around there usually to the S
turn. THOSE are friggin fun. Had those down like nothin'! hit turn 8
(last turn) and SLOWLY pin the throttle!!
Needless to say by the end of the day, my only challenge was the red zook
600*Racer guy* in the turns, the Mille R and the instructors who would
occasionaly get on the track to put you in check!
Other then that, I wore off the michelin man on the sidewall of them there
H2's and got over more on the front. Although that wasn't my goal. I
wanted to work on cornering and I did. I am more confident then ever. I
will still be very careful in the canyons. I want the track
though!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks SevenFittyMadness, YTRY2 and Ric for hangin and thanks for the work on the bike~
