I have a 01' 600, and I really have no interest in pulling huge wheelies. The wheelies i want to pull are the small ones where the front wheel just raises a little bit when you takeoff. Is it possible on a 600? any help is appreciated

yes it is called dropping the clutch just right, or enough RPM and letting the clutch out just right to lift the front a few inches.

Also you can do a power wheelie higher in the RPM. Just do an agressive take off from the line, then once you get the clutch all the way out. Start twisting the gas quickly till the front starts to lift.

yeah, i don't want the front end coming up right away, so the high rpm wheelie sound about right. I imagine that on a 600 the front end wont come up too quick twistin the throttle like that, what do you think?

I was reading about hayabusa's somewhere, and they were saying that busa's when punched will slowly slowly come up at high R's, and thats exactly what i want to do.

I all depends how you feel about the front. I know if you haven't done many wheelies as I have not, even what most would consider slow would feel like it is racing up. One reason I have a tendancy to let off too much as the front lifts.

If I am trying to do a wheelie I got to where I could ride for a bit from 60-120 in second over about 10 seconds.

But when the front starts to come up and I am not trying I have a tendancy to let off the gas to make it come down. Which is usually too much.

In 1st the way I described the front will still come up pretty high. Not sure if you would run out of revs before it flipped or not. I did the above at the drag strip and was shocked as I was on top of the bike not sitting up.

By most standards the power wheelies in this manor should come up smooth but be aware of the power bands on the bike as if the front is on it's way up when you hit a band it will increase the rate at which that front is rising. If you want to make the front stay at that height you will need to learn to adjust throttle input to do so. This is where the skill is, skill that I do not have.

Just FYI if you punch a busa in anything under 3rd gear or maybe 2nd gear at 3000k rpm the front will be coming up pretty quick.

My 01 GSXR 1000 on the track with me tucked in would start to lift the front just under power band surge in 2nd gear around 90 mph.

Had a spot where as I came out of the corner around 75 or so once I got the throttle WOT the front would start to lift near the end of the short uphill straight.

dont know about an 01, but the 04 and 05 600s wheelie in1st toward the higher rpms even with me in full tuck. Well at least my bike does

by wheelie i mean come up a little, like you are wanting

It will. But it helps to have a decent launch as it will extend the forks more and tranfer the weight back so when it does lift it stays smooth.

oh yeah thats true too

little wheelies are fun, you ride em out quick, but it is easy to kick em into 2nd

any time you pin the throttle something happens with 1st. Its been a long time since i was on a stock 600 so I'm not too sure. But off the line with a bit of clutch heck ya. -1 +1 750 gotta slowly let the throttle open up. no pinning

dude if ur not careful on my bike, off the line, she will come right up

Off the line you have to watch any bike with a somewhat short wheelbase.

I had a clutch hang up on me when I was learning and flipped a 93 yamaha seca II 600.

I have seen video of a guy flipping a 250 ninja off the start.

But yeah a 600 as long as you don't floor from off the throttle you shouldn't have too much problem.

And if you pin it from say around 3000 rpm I am not sure if it will come up. Haven't tried that on the track yet.
