ok i have a k5 1000 and i dont need to pop the clutch for a wheelie, I can power thru it, not very controlled, not the best landing but i can do it..... My question is a lot of people are talking about poping the clutch and I tried that on my bike on second gear, just a little bit, just to see the reaction of the bike ( I wasnt trying to get the bike up) and it jerked pretty bad, now when you say pop the cluth do u guys mean ride it a little or just let it slip from your fingers and slam it?

when ur tooting around, i dont ride a 1000 so i dont know what the best rpm range to clutch it in is, but when ur rolling, pull the clutch in, whack the throttle, let the clutch out smoothly. She will fly up

yea on the liter bikes be careful...on my F4i i gotta give a good amount of throttle in second to get it up even with clutching. take it slow letting the RPMs raise higher and higher as u get more comfortable with the height of the front end. remember man even a 600 has enough to loop u on ur ass real fast.

It is kinda like a car, no? That is how I have always looked at it. Kinda like slipping the clutch to grab higher gears. You aren't dumping it, just slipping it. Just slowly pull it in until the rpms start climbing, and there is your spot. Then let it out, but don't dump it. Someone correct me, if I explained that wrong. Basically you are just slipping the clutch enough to get the engine RPMs to jump. In terms of how fast you are letting the clutch out, think of it like when you are letting the clutch out when you are racing off the line. I usually use two fingers to pull the clutch in, give it a decent amount of throttle, then slip it back out like im trying to go from a holeshot. It takes practice and timing to get it to how you like it. Just be easy with it and it will eventually come to you like second nature. You will figure out how much throttle to give once you start trying it and seeing how much throttle does what. No need to push yourself to the max and loop your bike. Once you get it down you can pull your bike up to the same point consistenly, which is why i like clutch ups.

You won't hear any nasty noises from your bike if you just let go of the clutch completely....BUT you will hear the sound of your ass going right off the back of the bike. Just remember to slip the clutch back out, it should be a swift, fluid motion. Just comes in time man, practice makes perfect...
