Here are some professional pics of my 2 track days at mosport long track in Canada. Sorry for the delay. I crashed on the second day going thru turn 5a and I broke my collar bone. It is a semi blind corner and I just didn't get a good line into it, and I didn't know that until it was too late. Oh well. It could have been worse. Just getting more mobile now. I am really wanting to go riding again soon. And I want to get back on the track too. Wish me speedy healing!

Enjoy....

those are beautiful photo's...

i have to ask though, in the last photo are you riding on that stuff they use to seal the roads?....if so... images/icons/shocked.gif theres a slight groove in the track at eastern creek at a certain turn and it gets wobbly as hell if you ever ride it. i cant imagine how hairy it must be to be at full lean over that line...

Ill give some perspective here.

Turn 1 is the left most corner in the 1st picture. The track runs clockwise. As has been said, it is a very fast track with lots of elevation changes and some blind corners (2 and 4 esp).

In all action shots except five it is corner 3 here. I would be doing about 7000-9000 rpm in 4th gear when these shots were taken. All of these pictures are pre-apex. So lean angle would be more later in the corner. It is a late apex corner.

Action shot 5 is the infamous turn 2. Taken at about 10,000 rpm or 11,000 in 4th gear at the point of the picture. I glanced at the speedo once at the turn in for turn 2 and it read 114 mph going into it.

Action pic 6 shows John brundl (a canadian pro racer friend) and amateur racer friend Tom. Action pic 7 shows tom again behind me.

Hope you are liking.

thx for all the comments so far.

A good example of this the pic of the silver cbr929 behind you... with more weight on the inside the bike will be more stable, and it'll also allow you to corner tighter and faster using the exact same lean images/icons/smile.gif

Nolz.. stiffen your suspension dude... your bike shouldn't be getting wobbly over that seam in turn 2. Ive changed my line in turn two and i now disect the line when exiting, and she still stays planted..

i have 1/3 comp and 1/4 rebound in the forks, with preload at 2-3 lines showing..

What you are seeing there is a concrete patch that they put into the track because cars were putting too big a groove into the pavement. It wasn't put in very well and is bumpy as hell. It was so bad that they had to re-surface it at the exits for the big FUSA & Canada National races. One stays away from it if at all possible. It is only okay to cross near the end of the corner post apex. The photos are all pre apex.

images/icons/smile.gif <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Ed, I'm not so sure about that. I used to hang off the bike a lot and when I took Fast School Phase 1 and 2 (A racing/riding school, & I can now get my racing license), they told me not to hang off the bike as much. Just 1/2 the butt off the seat is all you need. Any more than that on my f4i and I get uncomfortable and twisted too. I should be around a 1/2 butt off in those pictures. The guy in the silver 954 behind me (he has racing 929 bodywork on it) has more leg than I do, and he therefore can get his knee out farther.

thx

Hey, you Ontario boys.....Yes, Moss, that includes you too.

You probably know that I'm taking FAST phase one at the end of August, and I'll be booking two and three for the spring.

My question: Where can I look to get my hands on a race bike. I'd hate like hell to have to buy and build one.

Any pointers....clubs, dealers, etc?

Ken

also, just quickly, people come in different shapes and sizes, so i rekon it'd be difficult generalise that 1/2 a butt off the seat is the right way for everyone..

PS: I have driven many many laps of mosport in GPL (1967 F1 sim), and i am extreemly jealous! that would be soo much fun on a bike...

damn.. flying over 4 would be an experience.. also exiting the hairpin onto the back sraight (still has the crest in it?)... wow! you lucky dog! graemlins/thumbup.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I don't see a corner 1 pic either. I still have some trouble figuring out which pics are turn 3 and which are turn 8 (if any).

John was pitted in the paved area as he is a pro and all of that. He lasted 6 laps into the 1st session on wed, then crashed in turn 3. He did not ride the rest of the day.

Myself and friends were pitted west of the gas pumps down the paved road on wed. We had three canopies side by each beside the paved road, and 5 bikes lined up along the edge of the road. A nice set up.

Maybe see you next time.

ah, I stayed up at the trees(shade) by the main tower, by the entrance, I'm old and needed the shade. images/icons/smile.gif
besides, I could see the 8-9-10 corners from there.
