I have a 01 GSXR 1000 that I take to the track a lot. My question is are any of you other guys disconnecting the tip over switch. The last trackday that I did was at Loudon NH. I was leaned over about to go up the front straight out of turn 12 and the bike shut off. I coasted to pit wall, turned the key off and back on and the bike started up and worked fine for the rest of the day. Nothings worse than having your bike stall with a bunch of bikes comming at you, while you try to get your left hand up,and stay out of the way, but It's good to have in case of a crash. I guess your bamned if you do damned if you don't. Any input would be great. Thanks

Just a guess..but I'd say it was something else that caused your bike to stall..You can drag hard parts all day, and the tip over sensor won't cause the motor to shut off, it's the tankslapper that usually causes that..although, I filled mine with 100% silicone..some riders leave it alone..

I didn't get a tank slapper butI did spin the tire on the way out of the turn, so I was thinking maybe that was it. I've never had it stall just going thru a turn, sorry I left that out I type really slow and sometimes I just want to hurry up and end.

I know what to tell you. Some are more sensitive than others.

Go to the drug store. Buy a 2$ bottle of glycerine and fill your tip switch with it. One of the members experimented with all kinds of ways, that is the cheapest, and because it allows only a 3 sec delay, still allows the bike to shut down.

I wanted to add: spinning the rear out of turn 12 is perfectly acceptable on the 1K. You can wrap it around the corner.

I'm not sure why else it would stall...I disabled mine with small zip ties...I don't want to stall leaned over like that.

Thanks for the help guys, It only happened once that day but once is enough for me. On that lap I was having a good time with a guy on a Duc 996. I wanted to get really good drive out of 12 so I could pull him on the straight because for one that front straight isn't that long and the second thing is passingcould only be done on the outside of another rider, and with the number of people on the track so I like to pass where it's safe.

the way it's designed, it shouldn't turn off just by leaning...it's gravity based, and in a turn, you just add to the force of gravity...but if the bike gets twitchy, it'll flick the little ball around and set off the switch. I can foresee a problem if you're flicking fast through a chicane or something, but I don't know first hand, though I almost highsided my 750 at the track and it shut off the bike...

Glycerine is a good idea...it'll slow the ball down a little bit, but stop it from working completely (hopefully, though i don't know how good a conductor glycerine is).

I filled mine.. I look at it this way... If I crash and the motor blows, that is ok... But I dont want the motor to make me crash... images/icons/smile.gif
