August 24-25, we're hosting yet another weekend event at Buttonwillow. We're probably gonna allow camping at the racetrack on Saturday night, and have a BBQ. Entry is $135 per rider/per day...and the BBQ/camping thing will be about $20-$25. Who's going?

Buttonwillow is a long drive from my house but I am thinking about trying for a Saturday ride there. I can usually wear myself out in one day so sticking around on Sunday morning to watch/take pictures would be on the agenda too, before driving 12 hours.

What was your best lap of the CCS weekend? Mine was a 1:56.07 I only rode on the team challenge...I didn't get any practice. Wonder what I could do with some practice

what kinda prep do you require? safety wire necessary? format? group or open? can novice/beginner rider's join?

i'm always down for cheap trackdays. images/icons/grin.gif graemlins/thumbup.gif

mostly right turns at buttonwillow? i have 3 t-hill trackdays coming up but want to go to a track that has more right turns so i can have some even tire wear. images/icons/grin.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">*minimal bike prep really.. all of it is listed on our requirements page.
*Street, and Race group format..20min rotation
*First timers are welcome, and do get an orientation (and their own session for the first two rotations of the day)

i don't get the "Oil filter MUST be wired to frame" requirement. what does it mean exactly?

i'll have done 3 trackdays (all at t-hill) on my current pilot race H2s by the time i get to buttonwillow. i'm not even kneedraggin through turns so will they last till the trackdaz event? hard to say at this point if they'll last i know but how many trackdays to tires typically last? any tire tech guys going to be at the trackdaz event? i know pacific track time had the michelin people who would mount/balance/install the tires on site for discounted AFM/racer prices.

sorry for all the questions. images/icons/rolleyes.gif just want to make sure i'm prepared and if i need a new set of tires before hitting the track.

buy yourself a large automotive hose clamp($0.79) and fit it to your oil filter. Then wire the clamp to the nearest fairing stay and your done.

As for the tires...can't tell w/out seeing em, but general rule of thumb is "the fresher the better". I'm sure dustin has a % rule on the tires, but for max confidence levels...try hard to get some new track rubber. My .02

so what's the projected weather going to be like? sorely tempted to go. just gotta get the funds together.

mike solis (aka mr. crash) going? rode w/ him up here in the bay area a couple of times though he probably doesn't remember me. he's hardcore. doing several hundred miles daily, or so i'm hearing.

any instructors going to be there? probably need someone to critique my riding and lines.

also, any parking lot near the track or something i can crash in? as much as i'd like to just sleep right in front of the track or wahtever, funds (or lackof) probably won't allow for me to. poor college students can't have too many creature comforts. hopefully there's at least a rest stop or something off hwy5 for me to drive to for the night.

I don't think i'll be on the 1000 (I'd prefer not to be) but I can't say at this time.

Uh, for Saturday Hammer--what are you talking about? Why wasn't I here, at a track, at Laguna, or somewhere else?

I am not allowed to ride a bike yet, if that answers the question.

No track days for a little while. Even the ones at the beginning of August will be pretty tenuous. I doubt I'll be able to push it, but we'll see.
