Im posting this here since his has to do with racing and riding the bike on a track.

But when on any of the superbike races you see someone going hot into a corner, but they are sliding the rear tire around...how do they do that? is it with rear brake, or front brake? I know it may come from dirt bike riding(something Ive never done) just wondering how its done?? images/icons/confused.gif

there is 2 ways to do this, you can use the rear brake, and modulate it, but you need to be very careful not to slide it out too far, because the rear end is really light and has very little traction it locks very easy, and once sliding you don't want to just release it your done the slide or you chance a highside! The fact that the rear brake has litterly no feel makes this very difficult, I think it would be easier to control with a thumb brake.

The other way is to have your revs up high and release the clutch without blipping the throttle and quickly release the clutch, again this is tricky as when your braking heavy into a corner your ass is already really light, and can brake loose fast.

I wouldn't suggest trying either of these unless you have alot of expereince with sliding your bike around corners

Like Moss said but is also made a lot easier with a slipper clutch and grippy slicks. images/icons/cool.gif

Easiest way to get comfortable with the rear sliding around is to practice on a dirt bike. graemlins/thumbup.gif

Ohh yah And another note, Racers don't use this to scrub off speed when in to hot, its used to square off the corner and make the apex on the corner sooner, that way they are able to get on the gas earlier, its suppose to make the corner faster but in most cases the riders sliding around aren't that much faster, but It can be useful for passing, change your line get on gas sooner and pass the guy on the exit of the turn. images/icons/wink.gif

Ok, I get it, thanks guys. I dont think I would be trying this any time soon... I was just wondering how it was done.
You hear the commentators saying it comes from like riding dirt bikes, but I didnt even know how it was done on dirtbikes.

So thanks for the answers.

The answer lies within:

http://www.americansupercamp.com

Even though Kenny Roberts dissed Danny's Supercamp classes in the last Sport Rider - "If you don't do it every day like me and my kids then it's not going to help so those other "schools" are poser/wannabes" images/icons/grin.gif - supercamp is a great place to learn about the limits of traction in a controlled environment without crashing your mega $$$ sportbike...
Plus it's a hell of a lot of fun.

Good info guys. I've done the high RPM release the clutch method inadvertantly.
