: Loudon, NH?
Scott_Nadeau 05-10-2002, 05:12 PM Can anybody tell me what to expect at Loudon? I've never done a track day before, but I plan to do one this year. I go to watch AMA races often, so I know the layout pretty good...is it a tough track?
Thanks!
bmfgsxr 05-10-2002, 08:07 PM well, its a fairly small track. and it has some tricky off camber turns. turn 4 is a danger zone since the bike wants to highside up the hill, and turn 10 is a right hander that is off camber also. getting into three can be a little crazy when there is a mess of people in front of you. youll have to pick out what works for you up there, but i love that track. it has cool elevation changes, but it will eat up the left side of your tires since there are only a couple rights in the whole track. when are you going up maybe ill see you there.
bmfgsxr 05-10-2002, 08:08 PM btw, i can t believe you live in concord, and have never been on the track itself. your a lucky bastid. if i lived that close id do a lot more racing up there.

Scott_Nadeau 05-11-2002, 06:09 AM Not sure when I'm going yet...it will be on a Penguin Street day. I'm trying to get a few buddies to go, but everybody is afraid. I think my wife will eventually decide that she's ready to try it, and that's what will finally get me there images/icons/grin.gif
Thanks for the info on the track! Are either of you racing there next weekend? I'll be sure to look you up on Sunday...
bmfgsxr 05-11-2002, 07:33 AM ill be racing next saturday i cant be there on most sundays. see you there. graemlins/thumbup.gif
mpd whats your ccs number dude. ill look for ya. 1500 miles on that track. what kind of laps are you running? turn 9 is tricky cause if you want to have a good time you have to be on the gas over the top of 8 and come in hot. i know a handful of guys that lost it there.
bmfgsxr 05-11-2002, 06:49 PM for the most part ill be up against the fence over on the side between turns 10 and 11. i may end up renting a garage with a few peeps later in the season, and next year, but for now ill be where i mentioned above. this is my first season racing and before this ive done the trackdays, and its a totally different world. trackdays are great, but in a race its a whole new ball game. anyhow ill see you there bro. graemlins/thumbup.gif
btw.. that sounds like a horrible crash you saw. i cant believe that shit. you just have to go right over the hill straight hugging the inside so your set up right for nine. anyhow, ride safe
madzook 05-11-2002, 07:44 PM I like Loudon a lot also. It's a tight technical track that calls for all of your attention. I took a Penguin coarse last year and did 3 trackdays also. bmf is right turn 3 and 4 aka the bowl can be tricky. In the bowl if you miss the apex you'll drift right off the track, a bike went off the track there in front of me and I glanced over at him and next thing I knew I was heading off the track, but you can bet that didn't happen again. But all in all it is a fun track. Enjoy!
Scott_Nadeau 05-11-2002, 08:30 PM Anybody know of a place online where I can find a map of the track? I know the basic layout, but I don't know what each turn is called...
Thanks!

Thanks!<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">its easy they go from 1-12 graemlins/laugh.gif i think i have a layout somewhere ill have to find it ill get back to you
mpdgsxr1000 05-11-2002, 09:59 PM found it here you go
http://www.gixxer.com/uploads/1021161521.gif
from turn 3 to turn 5 is uphill turn 5 to 6 (the bowl) is downhill from 6 through 8 uphill nine to 10 downhill rest is fairly flat except from the banking on the nascar oval but its only a 12 degree bank. the toughest parts of the track to get used to coming into is turn 3,6,and 10 because the corners are in your face because of the elevation changes and the speed you can get coming up to them stay relaxed and focus on where you need to end up dont fixate on them look through the turns and pratice throttle control and you should do fine

madzook 05-12-2002, 03:37 PM you're right bmf, I was counting 3 and 4 togeather. When I turn into 3 it just seems like one turn because at 4 your still leaned over a bit. And yes the bowl is a lot of fun! I'm not racing this year so I'll have to settle for track days.
silent1 05-15-2002, 08:44 AM Me and some buddies signed up for the June 7 class with Penguin Racing. There are still some open slots left if you care to join (in addition to the other dates as well).
