That puts pressure on your "O" to answer every score they put up, just to keep up. If your "O" doesn't answer, that puts enormous pressure on your 'D" to get a stop and get the ball back, which is a difficult task. Now you're down a few touchdowns, and you've scrapped the run game because you need to score quick to try to get back in the game.
