Ok, my modlist are as follows:
Vortex +2 rear sprocket
6" swingarm bolton extension
Shinko 190 Med. Slick street tire
TRE
Front lowered 2", Rear lowered on dogbones.

I run 1/8th of a mile cuz thats all there is around here....ok, now on to my question.

My best time as of now on this bike in the 1/8th is 7.385 @ 99.34 mph w/ a .290 r/t and a 1.922 60' foot Now, i see ALOT of room for improvement.... i.e. in my 60 foot times. And thats with me being at 10k rpms leaving the line. I'm not sure as to whether i need to start like letting of the clutch earlier, and just like popping it out and snapping the throttle all the way, or what. I have absolutely ZERO traction problems on this setup as well as ZERO chance of the front coming up. What would you do in my situation?

Main reason i ask this is because me, being 210 pounds, i'm running a 7.3 on my 600 and my buddy with a k5 100 who weighs about 150 pounds is running a 6.9 for his best time, just cuz he hasn't had much experience with the bike, and i'd like to cut at least a 7.0 flat to his 6.9 and be right there with him. Any input will be appreciated http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

If your that long&you have no traction problems&the front doesnt come up,then you need to let go of the clutch ALOT sooner. You dont have to snap it,just let go of it alot sooner.
How does the bike leave if you come out the hole at 7-8k?If you come out a lil lower with your rpm you might just be able to have the clutch completely out and be able to lock the throttle faster....

Well what kind of tire pressure are you running in that shinko?? I'd say run down around 20psi.

Then launch that bad boy like crazy. Launch rpm of 7500 or so.

I cut 1.7's on my stock 600 with nothin more then a strap kit and stock Dunlop tires (20 psi) with a decent burnout, launch RPM of 7500. Once spring come around I'll be tryin to up the launch RPM as I think closer to 8K or 8500 will give even better results.

Ok when your saying launch like crazy you would mean 7500 with a quick let go of the clutch or what? Cuz now i'm leaving at like 10k easing on out on the clutch for about half a second, letting it catch, then snapping full throttle. And i was running stock tire pressure, i guess i could drop it but like i said i have no traction issues.

I guess i'm just trying to figure out if you guys just let go of the clutch and hang on??? I know, not the brightest idea...but i need more help! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

With it stretched and lowered, you should be able to let the clutch out quicker than what you are doing. You should be twisting the throttle to full throttle at the same time the clutch lever is moving out. With the mods you have and a fair rider, you can be around high 1.6's and low 1.7x 60 foot times. It just takes practice, practice, practice. Keep going to the track and you will get better, don't sweat it.

With your setup you should almost be able to dump the clutch off the line.

I let the clutch out as quickly as possible for my runs. But I'm struggling with traction problems. Hopefully with better tires and being lowered like you are I should be able to just dump the clutch at 8K-9K.

If you dump the clutch, just make sure you're ready for it, cuz it could end up hooking really well or completely smoke the tirel. And if you weren't ready for it, bad things could result.

Yeah...i think i'll start just a straight dump of the clutch at 6k rpms just to get use to it. I mean...the front is lowered all the way...i'm extended...i don't think she's going to come up at all....and as far as the tractiong oes.....new shinko on a 600=no traction problems. So i guess i will try a dump n ow....thanks for the input fellas.
