A couple local guys run the Shinko med. semi-slick street tire on their bikes that they take to the track very often. However these are big dogs with built 1000's on nitrous and full bolt on busa's with nitrous as well. They say they only get about 2k miles on it. This is of course with them spinning down the road and doing all sorts of nonsense to the tire.
My question is: Anybody with anything smaller that likes to drag use the shinko...who also drives on the street frequently have any first hand experience with this tire. Thanks for any input. This is a 180 shinko btw.
(I don't need opinions of other tires...just this one because i have the option that it is sitting in my neighbor's garage.)

I don't have juice or a built bike, but do have a K5. I'm planning on buying a shinko over the winter. Locally we have guys getting on average of 3000 miles, a few have gotten 5000 miles on theirs. If it were me I would get it as long as you are getting a good deal. At a local dealership, if you buy the tire from them and have them mount and balance it comes to a total of $115 for the rear.

Ya...getting the tire brand new for 100 bucks. And to have it mounted if you bring the tire with rim apart from the bike to a local performance shop he changes tires for like 15 bucks. Thats cool to know somebody out there is getting 5k out of it. I mean i know there is no way on the street i will be burning it at all. Tks...any more input is appreciated.

Well I am going to try a shinko ultra soft on my turbo 03 gsx1000 when I get a motor back together. It is droped and extrended. I have 2 friends running the normal shinko 003 soft one on a dropped extended busa and one on a dropped extended 1000. Both running nitrous. They seem to be working good.
I have a couple friends running the 005 wich is more of a street profile that they run at the track on stock wheelbase stock motord bikes. Both doing fine at that strip, but handle like shit in the twisties.
on a stock wheelbase bike any decent street tire will stick good. I don't think a shinko is needed and it makes the bike not handle very well in the twisties.
Of course with more power the tire will wear out faster.

I've been lookin at running the Shinko R003 on my 600 for next year. Seen a bunch of 1000's and Busa's at my local track running them.
Have to see how they hold up on the street though.

Thats what i'm thinking though. Most of the guys here with 1000's and busa's run them for street and track. And get 2k miles out of them...and they spin them on the street. I'm pretty sure i can get 5k out of mine....with my track use figured in as well.

Remember when at the track that you don't need to do massive burnouts. With the shinko you only need to get it hot/warm to make it sticky. As soon as you see any smoke, it is hot enough and any more is just waisting the tire. Also remember to air it back up for street use for making it last longer.

I use the shinko 003 on my '05 750 and ride mostly on the street with the occasional visit to the drag strip.. . So far I have over 1K miles on it with 2 visits to the drag stip and still looks fairly new. My buddy has a 12 with the 003 shinko and he's around 2500K miles on it and rides everyday to work... Getting pretty worn but he spins the piss out of it all the time on the street playing around!
