Already had an addiction to speed. Saw em, liked em, rode on the back and decided I needed my own because I was not going to be some guy's "bitch" for the rest of my life...or ever.

I also have to add, that there was a point when it was just a dream and I never thought it would really happen. I still think it's one of the greatest things I've ever done in my life, learning to ride that is and getting my own bike.

My friends helped me along, teaching me on their own bikes. I always appreciated the trust that was there (and is).

My love affair with motorcycles started when a neighbor took me for a ride on his bike when I was about 12. As soon as I turned 14 I got a moped and progressed onward after that. I dunno why really. I do love speed and the adrenaline. But I also love all types of vehicles from bikes to tractor-trailers up to airplanes. Machines period just fascinate me. I guess I also like collecting licenses and certifications for specialized modes of transport, hence the class A CDL with motorcycle and Commercial pilot’s license. Getting certified to operate a locomotive is also something I’ve been toying with. And maybe a river-pilot’s license while I’m at it...LOL

my sisters boyfriend is like that too, class a cdl, all his hazmat endorsements, he can drive anything on the road, and hes going for his captains license so he can drive cruise ships and ferries and everything.

I dont remember exactly when I started wanting a sport bike. I know my step dad had a nice Katana 750 and let me ride in front of him one time and do all the shifting and whatnot. Basically he rode bitch but held the bike up for me (I was probably 95 lbs and 14 yrs old at the time)

My first memory of knowing I seriously wanted one was at about...19. I had a friend who had a Ninja something or other (at least a 600 but I think bigger) and I asked him if he'd teach me to ride. I got a few lessons and then I got more interested in riding him, LOL... He said I did better than his guy friends. I knew I would get one one day but it was like Devil said, definitly a dream that seemed may never happen.

Early last year (7 years later at a ripe 26) I was talking to a guy (from Boston actually, Boston 750) who had a Ducati. He took me for a ride one day (neither with helmets or any type of gear, I was in flip flops and a skort http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/disappointed.gif) and stopped for us to eat and hang out at his friends houses. I was like...hey...umm, can we get on the bike again already...c'mon lets go. I was BITTEN!! I had a bike about a month later. I couldnt even ride in home from the dealership but once my friend got it here I puttered around on the back road here for an hour or so and then was off into the darkness and onto the main roads. Funny thing is I was going over to show it to the guy w/ the Ducati (whom I was no longer interested in and I couldnt stop making fun of his accent, LOL) and I had to pass his road about...6 times before I got the nerve to turn. First I thought a car was on my ass too much and would hit me if I stopped and then I saw a bunch of gravel in the road where I would have to turn (construction going on at the time) so I just kept passing the turn over and over again. It was pathetic. I was so scared to freakin turn! Not just there either. I wasnt makin a u-turn for NOTHING! I would go completely out of my way to not have to do a u-ey.

At any rate I was and am proud of myself for basically teaching myself to ride and going after what I wanted. Shamefully I started on a 250 but a few months later I had my first Gixxer and a month or two after that I had an even newer and faster (blue and white) Gixxer. Now I am waiting for the day I get my first track bike.

BTW, Mr. Ducati, the one that took me for a ride when I was stupid enough to ride bitch and wear no gear also put me on the back of his bike on night a long time after that. I was drunk beyond...beyond and had taken a Xanax (sp?) (and I know I know, its was wrong, I had them as a prescription and I never took them but that night I did and then I drank...a lot) and I guess (from what my friends said) he was drunk as fuck too. I was like, I'm riding with him c-ya (WTF) and you wanna know what I remember from the ride home? I remember his friend coming screeching towards us in his Vipor (almost hitting us) and them racing eachother. I also remember looking down at the ground and thinking to myself how bad I just wanted to pass out (which he says I did while we were riding he felt my head hit his back and my arms fell from around him http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/disappointed.gif and he reached around and held me for a second until I guess I grabbed him again) and how tired I was and that "it probably wont hurt that bad" if I were to just lean back and fall off W....T......F!!!!!

Obviously I am a grown woman who no one else is responsible for but for him to be stupid enough to ride drunk and take a way beyond drunk girl with him both w/o gear...I havent talked to him since then. When I woke up the next day and remembered what I did I freaked out. I was so close to literally letting myself fall off the back of his bike, I would have been dead or wanted to be dead.

always have been a tomboy. i loved cars and football and all that crap. i've always liked going fast and bikes were sort of the natural progression from cars. i also convinced myself that the bike would save on gas, money adn time. so i bought one, taught my self how to ride and the rest was history.

My dad owns a dealership so I rode dirt bikes and 4wheelers all my life. I didn't ride on the street until I got married and my husband got a bike.
