I picked up a Lansky Kit last year, and I can put RAZOR edges on my knives now. I use to use a stone, but getting the same angles can be a bitch.

Post up some pics of your knives, and what you use to sharpen them http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have always ussed a stone, but I don't think the angles ever get even.

Lansky kicks ass http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Get the unit to attach it to a table
I also have the dimond stones which I bought afterwards
Perfect every time
And once you get an angle on it it is real easy to get it sharp again

I worked as a cook for 5 years when i left scheel so i learned how to sharpen knives pretty good.
I generally just keep an edge on the blade using a steel. If the blades truelly fucked i'll use a wet stone.

If you like knoves, i'll post up some pics of mine - i couldnt part with them when i finished working in the kitchen - i kinda got attached to them..... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Purely for kitchen use (or burglars)...... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Here's the 2 best systems on the market:
EdgePro (http://edgeproinc.com/) to sharpen really dull knives or reprofile the edge to a new angle
Spyderco Sharpmaker (http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=SP204MF) to maintain the edge you put on your knife with the above system.

Seriously, if you use the EdgePro, then touch up your blade frequently on the Spyderco system, you'll always have a shaving sharp edge.
