Yep, I grew up on the blues, learned to play em on the guitar and bass and even though I have become the stereotypical rap/hip hop listening college student I still always come back to the blues. Anybody else? Gotta love some B.B. King, some Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, some Jimi Hendrix (yes he played the blues) etc.

And on a totally unrelated topic...why does OG always refer to himself in the third person? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/spit.gif

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I'm partial to the Mississippi/Delta Blues and Chicago Blues (Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzy, Muddy Waters, Harvey Mandell, etc.). Most early rock'n'roll was directly ripped off from the original black acoustic blues musicians.

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I've been trying to find a copy of "I'll Never Love Again" by Harvey Mandell (http://www.jazzreview.com/article/review-4242.html) for about the last 20 years or so. It was a track on a Chicago Blues compilation album I got rid of when I switched to CD's back in the 80's. Me = Dumbass for getting rid of all that precious vinyl. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bitchslap.gif

Most if not all. Same thing w/more contemorary stuff too.

My buddy's son was washing his car listening to Zack Wylde and Sonic Brew. I asked him if he liked the blues. His response: Naahhhh....that shit's for geezers like you.

Ahhhh the ignorance of youth. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rotflol.gif

not a big blues fan and i'm mad that my local radio station is all blues on Sunday nights (The Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew) from 6 pm until midnight. That's the night I'm almost always listening while either working in the garage, driving limo or doing housework. Seems to me they should shorten the show to like 2 hours or something. After all it's a rock station.

I love blues! I think that's why I'm such a big fan of a lot of blues based classic rock. I tried to teach myself blues harp, but with no one to show me stuff, I kind of hit a wall and didn't progress any. There seems to be very few blues harp people in the world! I was a huge SRV fan. I have his last live appearances on VHS (Sound Stage on PBS). I like some of the stuff Johnny Lang does. I used to think he was a poser, but after seeing a live performance on TV, I changed my mind. Remember Jeff Healey? He did a tune called "Blue Jean Blues". Check it out if you haven't heard it...

99% of any type of music w/ a banjo and/or a fiddle is a http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif in my stereo. Pretty much only thing w/ a fiddle I like is that Devil Went Down to GA song.

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Bluegrass rules. Wish I had more knowledge about it & knew a decent radio station that played it. Went camping up in the VA Highlands a couple years back and found a great bluegrass radio station - nothin' better than sitting next to a campfire, burning a stick and listening to some sweet bluegrass music. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif

People do not give the blues the repsect and recognition it deserves. Most people would never guess that RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE uses mostly blues scales in their songs.

I love me some blues, there's a blues joint here called the Rusty Nail and I haven't been in forever. I need to go, I ned to pick the guitar back up.
