Blaise I really wasnt even considering an addiction at that point. I was taking them because I obviously needed them not even considering the consequences. My dr. told me after the fact that she was suprised I cut them off the way I did. Apparently most people just keep taking them as long as she hands them out.

I have a Rx for them cuz after both surgeries on my wrist,i get alot of pain.It just never goes away.
And if I'm workin with heavy cast iron pipe,or weld pipe,pickin it up,setting it in place&holding it to do what I have to do my hand friggin swells up and at the end of the day it's horrible..
I've taken em before &you definitely have to ween yourself off of them.At one point after my 1st surgery I was poppin like 8-9 Vic's a day and it didn't do shit for me...but sent me thru the roof when the Rx ran out http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

So,it's more of a pain management thing rite now.I know not to take more then my allotment,or I'll have to wait for the next Dr's visit...

I have bronchitis right now and my dr gave me a prescription cough medicine along with an antibiotic. When I took the cough medicine I expected it was the kind with codeine that would make me sleep... to my suprise its a narcotic with vicodin in it. I stopped taking it, its stronger than straight up vidodins or atleast it is to me http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

What I want to know is how you people come off of that shit? I was on it for a while after my surgery, I came off it quick but then ended back on them because I couldnt tolerate the pain. When I finally realized the way I felt on them was worse than the pain I stopped taking them and I felt sick for what seemed like forever. I didnt realize my body was dependant on them. My dr wanted me to go back on them and slowly drop the dosage but I refused.... It was a terrible couple of weeks for me, mood swings, upset stomach... it was just AWFUL http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif

By no means am I judging thats not my point... Im just stating my experience and also wondering why you like them? What does it do for you?

When taken daily, especially at high doses, coming off of them is pretty hard. But in reality, all you need is some will power and you will be able to cope with withdrawal.

When you see yourself running low on pills, it is best to save the last few for the detox period...lets say you are down to your last 10, rather than take all 10 that night, take 3 that nite, 2 the next, and singles for the next few days till you run out and your body re-adjusts to not having such high doses of hydrocodone.

This is the best way to go but realistically, it never happens that way. I usually eat em all in one nite and then have to struggle the next few days.

The day after you begin to feel the pain. 24+ hours later is when the extreme pain kicks in, the loss of sleep, and often at times runny shits. The shits I can deal with but the pain is so severe at times that getting out of bed is a problem.

If you can make it to the third day w/o relapsing, then you are most likely in the clear. The first 3 days are the toughest and after that its all good.

Like I said, will power is the key. It is a very addictive drug, but you must be strong enough to quit before you fuck with it. Thats what I think of every drug and drug use. Most drugs are addictive, but it is possible to come off them. I have experimented with many drugs when I was younger, mostly recreationally, some more than just recreation, but I was always able to tell myself enough is enough and was able to quit.

Thats what seperates some users from addicts. A drug user is very different that an addict in my dictionary. I'm sure Mark would not agree with me, but as far as I am concerned, many of us are users, and this is not all that bad. But thats just my opinion...I know many will agree, but most will not share my views.
