: Cards vs Stros Predictions! *Jer need not bother*
superbikegsxr6 10-11-2005, 11:58 AM So who's coming with me....Stros in 5??? Anybody? I know the Cards are favored, and I know last year they got past the Stros, but this year I think Houston will edge them out in game 5. Hopefully the offense will continue where it left off the last game of the Atlanta/Houston series, and we'll get wins out of Pettitte, Clemens and Oswalt. I mean cmon, how long can this last before they actually get in to a World Series??? This is the ninth time the franchise has gone into the postseason and its fifth time in the championship series and has only won 2 of 10 playoff series. For shit sake they are beyond due right???
Either way, should be a good series! Just hate to see the Cards win, as there are so many bandwagon fans around these parts.
S.Hart3 10-11-2005, 01:01 PM Braves are gonna win........
Next Year
torquemaniac 10-11-2005, 01:05 PM http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif The Cards are going to demolish the Astros & whoever happens to win the College Rules World Series (ALCS).

+1
Da Mighty Midge 10-12-2005, 05:11 AM I have no doubt the series will be a good one. Pettite is the only starter who scares me. Oswalt has been inconsistent (if memory serves me well) and Roger has never been a playoff pitcher.
If the Cards bats stay alive, look out. Our pitching is better than last year, but our bullpen worries me.
Nonetheless....should be a great series. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
I wasn't gonna post but since my name was in the title.....

Haaaa! I knew you'd chime in Jer!
As far as the inconsistencies in the Houston pitching staff:
I wouldn't be too quick to rule out Clemens. The man had an unheard of ERA through out most of the season. He's won 7, yes 7 Cy Young Awards (the last one at the age of 42!) and Houston has come from the bottom of the barrel once again and have gotten where they left off last year. Clemens start against the Braves was pretty bad last week, but he always follows that up with some big games (just look how he got smoked in the Allstar game two years ago and came back to have an incredible second half). It will be a great series, I just think Houston has more to prove and just may be a bit more motivated to get to the WS.
Sit down, buckle up, should be a great show!
Da Mighty Midge 10-12-2005, 06:05 AM Oh I'm not questioning Roger's career....certainly he has been a great pitcher throughout the regular seasons, but come playoff time he struggles.
More to prove and more motivated? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/spit.gif Did you not watch last years W.S.?? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif to another thriller.
AggieGixxer 10-12-2005, 06:14 AM Oswalt has been inconsistent (if memory serves me well)...
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif You're saying that back to back 20+ win seasons in inconsistent?
Da Mighty Midge 10-12-2005, 06:22 AM Oswalt has been inconsistent (if memory serves me well)...
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif You're saying that back to back 20+ win seasons in inconsistent?
Not at all. What I was saying is that if my memory serves me well, he has struggled at times this season moreso than he did last season). Sorry don't follow the Stro's during the regular season....just going on what I remember hearing.
AggieGixxer 10-12-2005, 06:36 AM Oswalt has been inconsistent (if memory serves me well)...

Every pitcher has a shitty outing here and there. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball, so when he has an off night, you hear more about it.
Da Mighty Midge 10-12-2005, 06:43 AM http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Will be a good series for sure. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Alot of Ballgame left. trust me i wish they only played 7 innings with the relievers the Braves had
Da Mighty Midge 10-12-2005, 02:23 PM Good game....Izzy scares the hell out of me...but I'll take the win. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Question....does Larry Walker still know how to hit a baseball? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif
superbikegsxr6 10-12-2005, 11:32 PM Was a good game. Houston stranded so many base runners it was ridiculous!
It'll be a long day at work today, as I work with a bunch of Cardinal fans http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
AggieGixxer 10-12-2005, 11:34 PM I didn't preditct a sweep, so a loss doesn't put the Astros out of it. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Da Mighty Midge 10-13-2005, 11:23 PM Great game by Oswalt last night.....that fucker can pitch.
Have a feeling this is going to be a long series.
NABIT 10-13-2005, 11:54 PM Damn I love it when the games stay close like that and then blow up..
AggieGixxer 10-14-2005, 01:33 AM Good game last night and a good win for the Astros. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Has anybody heard about Sanders? I admit that I laughed when he hit the ground, but then I saw he was hurt, so I felt bad. Hopefully he's not too bad. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Da Mighty Midge 10-14-2005, 01:38 AM Sanders is day-to-day....lower back strain....he is 50/50 for tomorrow.

My husband laughed also http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/disappointed.gif That was awful and the more they replayed it the more horrible it looked.
They are saying he suffered a lower back strain (mild to moderate) but had no sign of a concussion. As of now their not saying whether or not he'll be playing tomorrow.
My husband and I are split in this series... I want to see the Astros and the White Sox go while he wants to see the Angels and the Cards... Either way I freakin love this sport and cant get enought of it http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/icon_rant.gif

The Cards players aren't even over that....they need to make amends. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
torquemaniac 10-14-2005, 03:39 AM http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Just wait 'til they get to Houston - a veritable hitter's park if I've ever seen one. Should make for some interesting games.
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'd like to see either Cards/Sox (just because St. Louis & Chicago are traditionally big rivals) or Houston & California in the WS.
Da Mighty Midge 10-14-2005, 03:45 AM Torque I think you and I could hit one out of Houston's park. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
superbikegsxr6 10-14-2005, 04:03 AM Clemens should display a hell of a performance on Saturday. Quite honestly, theres no other pitcher Id rather have on the mound when the series is 1-1 and pitching at home. That being said, Houston gives terrible run support to Clemens, so we'll see what happens.
Either way, I was hoping neither team would sweep, as Id much rather see a close series, and it looks like that is whats brewing here.
Once again....Astros in 5!
