So I'm in the market for a HD LCD TV...

I'm leaning towards a samsung, something around a 26" but that is adaptable. On key thing I am looking for is a picture in picture that has capabilities to dislpay two screens (i.e. PC and TV) side by side.

I'm also favoring one without the built in HD Tuner b/c Time Warner will give me a free HD cable box with their HD Tuner built in.

I have considered the Dell monitor just because it is so cheap, but I am unsure about the PIP capabilities and its overall quality.

Anyone have one that would care to give some input on their experience/recomendations? Thanks.

We have dell monitors here at the college, the flat panel LCD's and we have nothing but trouble with them. Screens go bad, start loosing pixels, just quit working. We have no problems getting replacements, i think its cause they know the monitors are junk.

I'm sure the kids at the college are poking their fingers on the screens, that's why you guys are having problems have had my Dell LCD for three years with no problems at all.

I have used Dell monitors now for years w/no problems. The first 2001fp I ordered had 18 stuck pixels and I contacted them about it. Keeping in mind that LCDs are allowed a certain % of stuck pixels and this one was within reason, but I didn't want to accept it. They sent me a new 2001fp overnight free and a call tag for the old one. The new one that showed up had zero stuck pixels upon arrival. I have a program that allows me to check the pixels and since the stuck ones were around the perimeter I doubt most would have noticed them in normal use anyway.

So, that's my vote for the quality and customer care of Dell. I use nothing but Dell equipment and have had nothing but great luck.

If it's for HD TV viewing I would suggest a Sharp Aquos or the new hotness is the Sony XBR and it leaves the rest standing.... even the Aquos. The Samsung stuff is good too but the XBR is tops in the LCD arena right now if it's in the budget. The blacks are amazing whereas most LCDs have dark greys for the blacks normally when compared to plasma or RPTVs.

I have a 50" Hitachi HD LCD downstairs that I rarely watch since putting a 42" Dell HD plasma in the bedroom. The Dell blows it out the water as far as picture quality.

Footnotes:

HDTV is the latest and best television signal available. It produces picture quality more than twice that of traditional analog broadcasts. In order to effectively maximize the HDTV signal, a television must incorporate advanced signal input connectivity.
Digital Crystal Clear is a package of picture innovations that digitally adjusts and optimizes picture quality to optimal contrast, color and sharpness levels. It's like watching vivid cinema-like images.
The 3D comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross luminance and dot-crawl distortion - all of which detract from your viewing pleasure. The 3D digital comb filter performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl. The result is a razor sharp image. Virtual Dolby Surround Incredible Surround is an audio technology from Philips that dramatically magnifies the sound field to immerse you in the audio. Using state-of-the-art electronic phase shifting, Incredible Surround mixes sounds from left and right in such a way that it expands the virtual distance between the two speakers. This wider spread greatly enhances the stereo effect and creates a more natural sound dimension. Incredible Surround means you experience total surround with greater depth and width of sound without the use of additional speakers.
