for those of you who have had the pleasure of going to the racetrack you guys know race fuel can be pretty pricy , right ? has anyone figured out a way to boost you guys fuel octane for cheaper than the actual cost of race fuel ? pm or email me someone told me to mix a cap or r/c remote control gas with my 92 octane , does anyone know if this works ? please let me know , my c/c is hurting. haha thanks http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Unless you've raised your compression, you don't need race fuel or even higher than premium octane. You'll actually most likely get more power out of normal premium...

You need to mix equal amounts of 105 octane race fuel to 95 pump fuel to end up with 100 octane fuel. A cap full will make no difference. Race fuel is a waste of money unless you setup the fuelling and ignition to suit and have an engine that can use it. Just chucking it in without changes will most likely loose you power.

Go to www.sunoco.com (http://www.sunoco.com) and see if they sell race fuel in your area. You can get gt100 or 110 octane for 5.99 per gallon 112octane 7.30 and 116 9.10

i don't know what sort of race fuel you guys use over in the states, because all i need is a tank of premium and a bottle of octane booster and i'm already running 107 octane. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/trout.gif

Haha, that's what you think. If you really believe pouring a bottle of toluene into your tank is going to give you 107 octane race gas keep dreaming.

Yes, keep dreaming. There is a reason race fuel costs what is costs!!!

Here in Sweden they have come with the new 99 octane V-Power from Shell.
But i Canīt feel any difference, compared to the normal 95 or 98 octane.http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/piss.gif

you know what sucks the most.... by the time you make it out to Colorado... the highest octane is 91, it steadily decreases as you go from east to west (i am NOT saying this as a fact, i'm sure it is different depending on where you go but when i visited pittsburgh it was like 85, 87 and then 93.... and then somewhere in like missouri their top is 92 and F'ing CO has to only have 91? Is this due to the altitude? Probably! Oh well...

When I was out in Cali alot of the premium I saw out there was 91 octane. Over here premium is 93, some Sunoco gas stations sell 93 and 94 together at the same pump, weird.

yes each point on octane boost is only one tenth of a ocatane so let say your runing 91 octane and your puting 14 points worth of up grade its only 92.4 then don't beleve me read the small print on the bottles about the point rateings.

try aviation gas 100LL it is light blue and 110 octane your exhaust tip will became white and your engine will burn a little bit of oil because of the explosion type of this fuel.the bike fly with this...

dyno'd 600's with race gas and pump gas. Pump gas beleive it or not will out perform the race gas on a 12 to 13 to 1 compression engine.

VP ultimate 4 is the best stuff for the dollar. It is 92 octane which suits your bike best and costs about $9/gallon. I did a +2 factory advancer and the tre mod to my 01 750 and it hauls ass for the little bit of compression increase and the 1000 cams it has. High octane is not the answer for most motorcyclr engines because the flame travel burns way too slow for most peoples' applications.
Unless you have special Asiatech pistons in your bike (eh Tim?) High octane fuels aren't going to help you.
Believe me, been there done, that.........waste of time/money. Amoco white gas seems to be the cleanest that doesn't clog your injectors like brand X gas did to mine at a track day. I'm STILL scraping the hardened varnish off of the inside of my throttle bodies from that shit!!

The other point is that the good race fuels are oxygenated.

This is how they make more power. They add more oxygen to the mix so you have to custom map the fueling to suit.

There are neg side effects to this. The oxygen in the fuel can cause corosion inside the engine.

The RC Fuel thing you are wondering about is.... Nitromethane

It's pretty much the king of oxygenating fuel.

IT DOES NOT STAY MIXED WITH NORMAL FUEL

It is run with methanol.

Having said that...... you can get 5% to stay mixed with normal fuel if you use 5% Acetone as well to blend it.

If you like the idea of having acetone ruin your fuel system and the nitro corode the inside of your engine then you can mix your own race fuel and go burn some holes in pistons.

;)

just use pump gas unless you remap your bike and use it all the time. out bikes weren't designed for race gas
