is there any law in America stating what you have to do if you find
money in a public place.

If there is can someone direct me to where I can find an official
write up of that law

Hmm...I'll start searching and see if I can find a site for ya. BTW, if you find cash laying around w/ no wallet or money clip or way of ID'ing who it belongs to keep that shit. However if you mean like bag of money from a Brinks truck or something...I guess either way it is all a matter of conscious (sp?) I find stuff all the time at work (found an iPod and a new Razr phone in the last two weeks) and I always make sure to get it back to the owner. But if no one comes looking for it then of course you keep it. When I find cash I keep my ears open to see if any of the other girls at the club say that they lost that specific amount.

i did not find any money, im trying to find a law that specifies if you need to report it or not,
a law saying what you need to do with it, if there is one

everytime i see something on TV about it like on a family show, they always bring it to a
police station, and the cop says "the person who lost it has X amount of days and if they don't claim it by then, it is yours"

I am looking for that law, but i need the official write-up on it
