I'm heading to Italy for my Annual Training with the National Guard. I guess the Base (Army) is located in Northern Italy? Have any of you guys been there? How is it there and how big is the Base? Thank you much for any replies.

Haven't been there but it should be lots of fun!!!!

The nothern Italians still have a bad taste in theri mouth about Americans after those Marines cut the cables on that gondola a few years back. But other than that Italy is really nice, hopefully they'll let you guys go out in town. Just don't make the rest of us GI's look bad!!

Trieste is cool, Venice is beautiful. Aviano doesn't have a lot to do, but you can travel to the first 2 I mentioned. Wherever you go in Italy, bring a camera with you. If you get some R&R, take a train somewhere! Meet hot Italian women with hairy armpits! Have fun, good luck! Oh by the way, stay out of france. They are all assholes!
