: Anyone between FL and NC want a free dog?--->
Amy269 10-05-2005, 09:00 PM I know probably not but I'm gonna ask anyway.
So I am moving between March and May of 2006 (most likely March or even before then, just trying to find my sons father a job up there and alla that jazz) and I got my son a puppy a few years back so now she's like 2 maybe 3 by the time I move and I dont want to deal w/ the hassle of having her in an apt setting. First of all it's going to cost at LEAST $250 non-refundable deposit and then some places another $150-300 refundable to have her in an apt. and most of them have breed restrictions. She is at least half pit if not complete but with a dirty bloodline (like a mutt or two thrown in here and there) so I think they will consider her a pit and they arent allowed. Anyways, she is the worlds sweetest dog (I'll need to get some pics of her in case anyone is slightly interested) and as far as we have experienced is a great dog for kids. My son tries to ride her like a horse and she just walks around w/ her tongue hanging out like DUH until he falls off. Worst case scenario we take her to the humane society but who knows how long she'll have to live in a cage (they are no kill) and that makes me sad. If we are able to find a house to rent then we will just take her (cause she really is a good dog) but it seems easier to me to get an apt w/ a short term lease and then I can check out the area and decide where exactly I want to live. So at any rate let me know and if anyone has a lot of land or a big yard or a farm that she can just bounce around on that'd be cool and we'd just drop her off on our way up north.

SH0RTBUS 10-06-2005, 03:00 AM You should have thought about this BEFORE you got the dog! My wife and I have already adopted two dogs from the shelter because losers like you are not responsible pet owners.
Kneedown 10-06-2005, 03:07 AM OUCH!
TelfonoMvistr750t 10-06-2005, 03:13 AM if its such a good dog do your best to keep it...we rent a house and our landlords dont care nor are there breed restrictions on our amstaff or pit/jack
<--look at that face i couldnt get rid of him ever

As Kelso from That 70's show would say: BURN!
Griff 10-06-2005, 03:26 AM +1 for shortbus. It's mean, but true. Too many people use the moving excuse to dump their pets.

If it's such a sweet dog and you have had her for almost 3yrs how could you just give a family member away??? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif
My dog is part of the family...if it means I have to go the extra yard I will.

BTW - Every place I ever rented was ok with dogs/cats....you just have to look. You might have to put down a extra security dep but thats it....and it should not effect your rent.
Grandevil 10-06-2005, 03:59 AM She's not "dumping" the dog damn. She's trying to find a good home from it by asking people she considers HER FRIENDS. She also said it's 3 years old, people can't see 3 years into the future to know whether or not they'll be moving. You guys are pretty judgemental.
I would not forgoe moving because of a pet, people come before pets.
Amy if I was not allergic to dogs and already had a full apartment between my roomate and my cat I would consider it. Goodlucka dn don't let the assholes get you down.

Her cheap ass could cough up the pet deposit to keep her dog instead of trying to give it away or dumping it on a shelter if she cannot find someone to adopt it. It all comes down to responsibility.

AWWWE SNAP - But true
I want a dog more then you know... But I realize that I cannot take care of one.... Same reason that I dont have any kids... Not because I can't, but because I cant take care of them.

Well think about this. Most apartments do not have back yards to accomodate dogs and msot apartments have smaller living quarters than houses. Take all that in to account and it becomes very hard to own a dog in an apartment especially if someone has to leave for most of the day to go to work or school. Who's going to let the dog out?
Grandevil 10-06-2005, 07:51 AM And she ALSO said she would keep the dog if she could find a hosue to rent. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
SH0RTBUS 10-06-2005, 08:19 AM My wife and I live in an apartment and have two dogs without any problem. One is a German Shepard mix and the other is a Rot mix, so they are not small dogs. Quit trying to make excuses for her sorry ass. Once you get a pet, you have made a commitment for the rest of that pet's life. Besides, since her baby's daddy doesn't have a job, he could take the dogs out.

hey guy... you live in fucking OKLAHOMA! try finding a place in nyc that'll let you have an 80lb amstaff.... i totally feel her pain. the place i'm currently renting took me 2 mos to find b/c every broker i spoke to said they wouldn't be able to find me a place. now that i'm looking to relocate closer to the city i know owning a dog is going to be an even bigger issue. now i've had my dog for almost 6 years and the last thing i'd want to do is give him up... but if i were to i think i'd reach out to you guys first

Fuck you jackass. I saved her as a little puppy from a house where they were tormenting her and trying to turn her into a vicious dog. There was no thinking about what I would be doing in three years I just wanted to get her out of where she was.
My sons father has had her for nearly three years and just because I dont want to lock her up in an apt doesnt make me a loser. I am obviously concerned enough about her to start trying to figure something out months in advance. And tho I may be an animal lover who has probably rescued more animals in a month than you ever will I am not going to spend $500 on pet deposits and stop my plan of moving to another state to make a better life for myself and my son. I've only found one decent apt in the areas of NC that I am moving to that have no restrictions, all the others wont allow her. In conclusion........................................ ...................

Did you read my post or just what fuckbus said and decide to jump on board? I said specifically, worst case scenario i would take her to the Humane Society and I added that it is a NO KILL facility and I then expressed my concern w/ that as I do not want her sitting in a cage for months waiting to be adopted. Fuck off all of you retards who dont take the time to read a fucking post before you start running your mouths. As usual the only intelligent person in the thread is a woman.

Who the fuck said my "baby's daddy" didnt have a job? He's in a union and had the same job for 7 years, dumbass. If I mentioned looking for a job for him its because he is at work during business hours and cant make the initial calls himself and I am helping him out you stupid fucking bastard. Damn ya'll just keep getting less intelligent every day. I guess I have to visit the ol' ignore user button again...

Amy269 10-06-2005, 09:40 AM Dont be embarassed because, yet again, you're comments are out your ass. Instead of trying to make a rep for yourself of being an outspoken asshole try reading what you are commenting on first and clarifying any issue you may have with it before you start your diarrhea of the mouth problem that you have. At least now you see that you are wrong and I have already done whats best for this dog and am trying to continue to do so.

Fun to read though.
eye-man 10-07-2005, 05:45 AM jeeze, just cuz one person considers their dog a "family member" doen't mean another person has to. Good luck finding a home Amy, I'm sure you will. And I'm sure it won't be easy when you do give it away. I've given pets away before and they went to excellent homes, had great lives and the people were very appreciative. Nothing wrong with that, doesn't make me a bad person. I didn't give away a child, I gave away a pet. An animal.
