Now being 5'1 is gonna be tricky, you can get just about any sport bike slammed for you but it effects the stability and handleing to a degree...You may want to put on some heels head to the dealerships and try a few bikes on for size and see how they feel. The height thing can be overcome with experiance and confidence..

I'm really tall for a woman, nearly 6' so I don't have that issue but I feel your pain...

Thanx, for the support, i'll try what you suggested. Actually first thing i am doing to my bike is lowering and getting sliders. Im not sure what kind of bike yet, but i am shopping around. What kind of bike do you have and how long have you been riding?

Welcome ,, about your class,, are they furnishing the bike ( mine did) and they had about 4 bikes that were shorter for the vertically challange people Again I don't have that problem at 5'10". Good luck and let us know how it goes

Also be very very careful about getting your bike slammed...Far more shops don't do it right then do it correctly..If it's done wrong, it could compromise the integrity of your bikes suspension which is obviously very dangerous...Ask a dealership to recommend a shop that can do it properly if they don't..Many will not do it due to liability problems..

I'm very frustrated...I just got my Icon jacket delivered after waiting two weeks for it and their stupid size chart was waaaaayyyy off. Now I have to send it back and hope the next size up works out...Being tall sucks.....The stupid sleeves are like made for a chick five foot nothin..

Good luck with returning the jacket. This asshole on ebay wouldn't take back my jacket. I guess i'm partially at fault for not assuming that I can exchange the jacket if it was to big. Yeah I'm really worried that I'm gonna go through the whole return and wait for a new size process just to find even a large is too small with sleeves too short..I wish a dealer in town carried the jacket in stock so I could try it on...This is the last time I mess with this sort of thing..I've been trying to get contact info for Icon so I can call them and ask if the sleeve length increases in size but they don't seem to have a website...It's aggrivating as hell

Hey ladies..go to www.joerocket.com (http://www.joerocket.com) and send them an email telling them they need to think about longer inseams and sleeves, their stuff is awsome but also made for an itty bitty girl..Maybe if we can get enough women to write into these mfg's we can get them to start realizing their sizes are incompatable with women who ride sport bikes...

Hey Ladychase... Welcome to the boards - I'm sure you will enjoy it here and find very useful information. I too am short 5'4". I ride a GSXR 600 and I had to have it lowered. I just didn't feel comfortable enough to gain my confidence when my feet wouldn't flat foot the ground. Guess it was probably more of a first time riding newbie thing too. Anyway, I had it lowered 3 inches and I love it!! I can't tell a difference in the handling either and that's probably because hell I didn't know how it handled to begin with .. lol..
Anyway, welcome and good luck with your class and bike purchase.

Check out CycleGear for gear and accessories... they have alot of different manufuacturer's for women's apparel... they also have a size chart that adjust for different manufacturer.. it is pretty nice and they are pretty cheap and have places all over the country too... here is their site...

Hello and welcome... yes for some reason us guys check this group out from time to time... don't know why really....

Anyway, about your height issue. Depending on the bike you get, you may get away with shaving your seat down. If you need to lop off 3 inches from the bike you get then, no, it won't work... but if it's close, that maybe it'll be an option for you.

ok well if your blowing shit up, im game. blowing stuff up is almost as good as riding, as well as setting shti on fire. we had a lawn mower tire we had to mount at work yesterday, and if you know anything about hard to mount tires, it blows ass...so we tried the ether trick, where you put ether starting fluid on the inside of the tire and throw a match on it... ususally the tire blows up and expands rapidly so it seals the beads, then you just put air in it...well wal mart brand starting fluid blows, so me and the kid lighting it on fire ended up kicking around a flaming tractor tire unmounted on a rim for 15 minutes trying to extinguish it. good times... ahh now i feel better http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
