What is the stock rear sprocket, 40T steel or aluminum?

Thanks, That is what I thought. Any idea how long an alminum rear would last? Never mind, the stock lasted 16,000 miles. With that much power the Aluminum would prolly be about half the life of the steel.

Aluminum should last just as long unless you are running boost. many have 20,000 miles + and drag race with their aluminum sprocket.

No shit! That is good to know, I know the aluminum would be alot lighter than the steel.

Go with a Sprocket Specialists (800.782.8200) Hard alloy sproket. It will last longer than a plaim alum one.

That is excatly what I put, w/stock gearing

hope you guys dont mind be butting in here, but i have some experience in the sprocket thing..
the aluminum (hard anodized) isnt worth getting..mine wore out in no time, and i dont abuse my bike..
i went with a sprocket called a" stealth" you can get it through sprocket specialties..
it is aluminum with a steel outer gear..held in place with titanium rivits..it looks cool too..

i would check this sprocket out before going to a all aluminum one..

The Sprocket Specialties stealth sprocket is not available for busa's
