polishing is a lot of work, the rims and any part the is not smooth is the hardest,if I were you I would start on some thing small untill you get the hang of it,like a foot peg bracket, and then work your way up to bigger things as you get better,For the rims I would just do the lips and paint the center a color that will go good with your bike,When I had stock rims on my busa 00 blue/silver I did the centers silver with the lips done it looked real good.....Good Luck!!

Hey do you have any pointers your bike looks great. I thought about doing the outsides of the rim and painting the inside i just don't know where to start i bought the easy off, 400 , 600, all the way to 1500. I have not bought any polishes yet but how do you know when to be done with one part and switch to the next any help would be great. I think i will start with just the edges though cause if it really sucks i will just get them chromed

Thanks

Brian,Yes polishing really sucks,if you have the money get at least the rims chromed,go to the oil cooled section and check out my old bikes,I did the rims on both of them and vowed to never do a set of rims again,I had like 40 hours into them,I even cut out a lip that the older Rs had in the center,On my busa I said hell no and just bought a set of after-market rims,Tips:you can strip off the clear of any part using 2 methods,1 using easy/off just make sure its warm where ever you use the easy/off and tape off any area that you don't want tarnished, this stuff can ruin places you don't want to polish,or 2 you can sand off the clear, using a DA or a electric palm sander(sold at sears around $30)the good thing about the palm sander is you don't need a air compressor blaring for hours to do the work, and you just buy the sheets of wet/dry sand paper and you get 4 from one sheet, and it also makes nice little speed bumps from your welds, and fits it tight places, and if you have access to a air compressor, you can use ROLOC pads to strip the clear, use the red ones, but they can also make the area very wavy so make sure your not,any ruff part part you will need depending how ruff 80 grit sand paper to start,if its already smooth try starting at 220 and work your way up to 600 grit, you'll know when, when you don't see the deeper scratches from the grit before, then I would wet sand by hand 600 I went to 1500 on mine, and at that time you might see spots you will have to give more attention to,when happy with the results, you will see it shine already, you will need to buff it out,you can use a buffer/grinder also sold a sears and some buffing wheels, most tool store sell buffing wheels, but look into it there are some places that sell polishing products,Tou'll need about a 8 inch wheel and some compound,I use triply and then the green to finish ot off, then clean it by hand a few times using mothers, sorry I can't teach you how to polish over the internet but i hope some of this helps, you will get better the more you do,its not inpossable just time consuming..Good luck!!Ps. NLR the turbo Man,on WWW.SUZUKIHAYABUSA.ORG (http://WWW.SUZUKIHAYABUSA.ORG) has a guy do inside and out of your frame for $550,thats really cheap!Look into it if you don't want to do it your self..
