Still trying to figure out the best combo myself. I had a stock combo and ran a best of 6.93 on my 05 750. Then switched to -1 in front +2 in the rear and 60fts came down but only ran a best of 7.00 @105. Had old stock tire on so thought that was a problem.... Just went to the track with a 003 shinko and -1 in the front and stock rear and ran 6.60@109 with a 1.62 60ft. This Thurs trying the +2 in the rear to see what happens.. I know mph will come down but 60ft should improve..hopefully!

A good rule of thumb that I've heard from many drag racers, is that you should try to gear the bike so that you go through the 1/4 traps in the middle of 5th gear. A persons individual weight, weight of bike, HP of bike all come into play when calculating gearing. I know for me and my bike (05 1000) I went -2 up front and stock rear. I've been flamed for that gearing before, but it is what works for me.

at the Track.. 2 down in the front worked great for me too.. minimal bog off the line.

holy crap - now i'm not a drag racer

but even stock the front end would lurch a foot off the ground as she left the line. Like i said i don't drag race, i go to the TRACK track. I ran quarters in 10.8 and I know its easily do able to get 10.3. But man thats quite a bit of gearing to leave the line with?

Yes it is alot of gearing, but I'm no fly weight and need the torque to get off the line quicker. Besides drag racing a bike takes a different kind of finess (sp) than road racing. You just can't drop the clutch and pin the throttle. Just like doing wheelies, you have to find a balance point. In drag racing the balance point is applying as much throttle for acceleration without lifting the front end too high. 1"-2" off the ground is about ideal for a launch.
