: Hotbodiesracing undertail

Well, if you want to keep the stock tail light this is the undertail for you. This undertail was a prize from www.gixxer.com (http://www.gixxer.com) and www.hotbodiesracing.com (http://www.hotbodiesracing.com) . The undertail came with the integrator and very simple instructions. If you follow the directions install from start to finish should take about 1.5 hours. Once you have done it once it would be very simple to do this in under a half hour. The quality of the undertail itself is pretty good. It is made of fiberglass, and the one I have is painted black. I also removed the bungee hooks to give it a cleaner look. You will start by removing the tail section. Then you will need to cut the trunk area and raise it a little bit (thus losing a bit of trunk space). Once you have done that you need to install the integrator kit which is quite simple. Then put the tail section back on and place the undertail in the correct place. What would have made it a little faster and easier is if the holes you have to make yourself were done for you from the factory, but it is very easy to do anyway. Now you have your undertail installed. Overall i am very happy with this undertail. I also like the fact that there is a bracket included with the kit to install your license plate. Some of the undertails on the market come with a molded area to mount the plate on and they arent too attractive looking, and if you decide to mount your plate in front of the rear wheel you are left with a molded hump in your undertail.

Shadow R One 01-14-2002, 12:07 PM Here is a tip about installing the integrator. When you install the wires that connect to the tail light, install some kind of disconnect (like bullet connectors). This will allow you to remove the tail section in the future and not have to hold it in place or hang it from the subframe images/icons/grin.gif
Repsol_Movistar 01-17-2002, 06:34 AM ummmmm why arent i seeing anything different?

Well, the turn signals have been integrated into the tail light. Normally, both bulbs in the tail light will be on solid. When you turn on either the left or roght turn signal, the left or right light bulb inside the tail light bill blink images/icons/grin.gif

Notice behind the licence plate is nice shiny black plastic, and not loads of wires, bits of sticky-out subframe etc etc.
Thats what the undertail does, is close of the underside of the tail piece to look cleaner.
bmfgsxr 01-18-2002, 10:06 PM since my undertail is black it is hard to see from the handful of pics that i have... i will get a pic from shadow one and post it in my thread so that everyone can see it better.

You should have them by now...I can take more tommorow during the day if you need them images/icons/grin.gif
180mph 01-21-2002, 09:04 AM It's not what i would call a good undertail images/icons/frown.gif
You should look at www.mototeck.com (http://www.mototeck.com) , now those are undertails images/icons/cool.gif
Shadow R One 01-21-2002, 10:56 AM But you also have to compare the prices too. The one from Hotbodies Racing only costs $189 while the ones you meniton cost about $329!!!
Almost twice as much!!
ChefGeno 01-25-2002, 04:54 AM What about a hugger for the rear tire any chance they have one of those?

I couldn't think of a better place... i'm sure I may get hassled by a cop or two, but the tail section is just too clean to go drilling into it... I'm sure the cops will understand. Did you mount a light for your license plate? I bought one, just haven't found a great place for it yet...
Shadow R One 02-18-2002, 12:17 PM I put on some LED scrw things but they dont light up the plate worth a shit images/icons/grin.gif
I think I am going to buy some kinda light (like a flush mount) and put it somewhere images/icons/grin.gif

this is a review of a certain product. and i wasnt asking for other brands.
Qballlll 02-22-2002, 11:28 PM It's definitely an undertail... the only kind to keep the stock light, and also a well made one... anyway... just a heads up to anyone who mounted their license plate like I did... finally a nice day out here and took my bike for a ride for the first time since I did my latest mods... first cop I passed... pulled over and ticketed cuz he couldn't see my plate... I thought i'd make it a month or two before I got pulled over... oh well... I think i've found another option before I go drilling into my tail section... i'll post pics when I try it...
Shadow R One 02-23-2002, 03:38 AM Yikes! That sux. So far I have avoided that...
*knock on wood*
Though I would have to order another bracket since I chopped mine up to put it by the battery images/icons/grin.gif

imported_darkman 10-08-2002, 02:59 AM Hi,
Did you buy an undertail from Momotek? I looked at the website and it looks really nice. I wanted to buy one for my 02 GSXR 750.

darkman 11-16-2002, 05:41 PM Anyone have pics of the GP undertails from Hot Bodies on their bike? I saw one on a Honda and that must be the nicest one I have seen yet.
Nice, looks like factory! Very clean install! graemlins/thumbup.gif
silverbullet84 03-17-2003, 08:55 PM I'm going to do a seperate post as soon as I mount the license plate bracket, but this is the tail that I won from the Mega Raffle. Had to do a lot of cutting, even had to trip the front of the undertail so it would match up with the tail plastic.

Gsxrlesstxn 06-19-2006, 09:47 PM I put the hotbodies undertail on my K4. It definatly cleaned up the look of the bike, but I have had a few problems with it. 1. The holes didn't line up with my tail fairing to put the four provided plastic screws back in 2. The provided plate bracket ripped off my bike while riding two days later 3. I replaced it with a new metal bracket and since the undertail is no longer attached to the subframe it cracked my undertail due to excessive vibration. I had a custom bracket made and it took care of the vibration problem.
I will say this though. I had a turn signal go out and e-mailed them about it and right away the next day they were shipping me a new signal at no charge. When it came it was a different color than my old one so I e-mailed them again and they immediatly responded and shipped me another one free of charge.
I also got their front flush mount signals and the fit and finish is terrific! Just keep in mind though, no one can see those signals from the front so be careful when you ride.
I would reccomend them, their customer service department is awesome! If you want to mount you plate on the back again make sure your make a bracket that attaches your new undertail back to your subframe.
