I bought a used 04 gixxer 600 and it came with a yoshimura slip-on
and a power commander and I'm getting really sucky gas mileage.
I think I'm getting about 28 mpg!! Is this normal? What kind of mileage
are the rest of you getting? I only have 2200 miles on the bike, so maybe
the engine still needs to losen up?

whats this have to do with appearance? as for your gas mileage...it all depends on how much your beating the bike. i have a 2004 750 and i get just about 200 miles to the tank if im babying it, half that if im on the throttle

95 miles till the light blinks. Thats 25mpg.

Wrong place for this post, but I get about 35 mpg on my '05 600. Of course, when the light comes on and I fill up, it's normally only about 3.1 gal to full.

150 miles when the light comes on on my '01 600 and thats a 3.9 gallon fill up.

I get about 138 a tank everytime. That's roughly 35 mpg.

Best i ever got was 48 mpg.

Still breaking it in, but I've been getting between 40-43 mpg (between 140-150 miles till the light comes on, takes 3.5 gallons).

If I do a bit of highway riding I can get 150 miles before the light comes on. In town maybe 130 before the light comes on. But then there is still a gallon left in teh tank when it does come on so....

Most modern gixxers have the 4.8 gallon tank, and the reserve will typically come on with about a gallon left. So that means your fill up should be somewhere around 3.5 to 3.8

I've been getting about 120-125 miles (mostly highway riding) till the light comes on. So I guess thats about 35 miles to the gallon.

I had 126 miles (the light was on for a few of them) when I paid 10 dollars this morning 3.5 gallons!!!!

That could be one thing. I ride mostly on the highway too...but Im usually riding a bit faster then traffic and then hauling ass around corners if they're no cars....

I was wondering how you all get such better numbers then me. Could also be tuning maybe? I've had mine dyno tuned and remember we had to richen up certain spots because of my pipe.

All I know is that it shouldn't cost double digits to gas up a bike. Thats ridonculous!

I normally get 20kms/ltr which is about 56miles/gal cdn or 45 miles/us gal.. and thats on a 02/1k.. Did a long trip with a buddy riding a 02/750 and his milage was about 8% less than mine.. but I'm running -2 teeth on the rear and a 190-50 series tire. which cuts the revs about 10%..

I didn't think taller gearing would affect your gas mileage so much. When I first read your post I was gonna be pissed because I'd love to have 45 to the gallon on my 1k. But I won't be changing gearing though. I like her just the way she is. Not too short and not too tall.

Same here. somewhere around 115-125 is when the light comes on. I never run that shit empty. every 6 months or so I dump the tank and clean it out with clean gas.
