Kinda a dumb question, but went out riding yesterday with some guys and was playing around with wheelies a little. I was messing around with second gear wheelies, my question is what do you guys do when you can't see over the screen on a sit down wheelie. I am short, bout 5'7" so I know that's part of it, but when I was balancing I couldn't hardly see over the screen i kept having to raise up a little or drop the front end then bring it back up. Dumb question but was just curious. Oh, and I haven't got the stand ups going yet so that's not an option at the moment.

Look around your bike.

I've tried that, my bike gets really twitchy when I move side to side, like steering or looking around. I'll try looking to the side when I come up instead of moving to the side once up. If I could grow a few more inches my problems would be gone, but I think I've passe dthe growth spurt stage.

What back tire are you running and how much pressure?

Be smooth and gentle when looking around to the side. With practice you can lean way off and see fine. The pic is not me but when I am in the lot stunting (slow speed) I run 18psi and when on the street (high speed) I run 25psi. I am currently running a D218 but usually run old takeoffs that people think are worn out.

I just had to put my two cents in here. Because I remember when I was at this stage and I asked the exact same question of our local resident wheelie expert. Basically, he taught us to just tilt only our head to one side or the other to keep an eye on traffic and other stuff. After a while, you'll get good enough to look from one side to the other without upsetting the balance of the bike.

Sounds like you are on the right track though. Standups will come soon enough.

or you could mount a camera on the bottom of your bike and hook up a tv screen to your tank

Well, thanks fo rthe replys, it's been raining most of the week and I haven't ben back out to ride yet. On the tire question, I am running a 190 race take off on my 750, but I guess I will be going back to a 180 since I was told they are now slicing the sidewalls of the race tires.

I have never really had a problem with the bike veering to one side while tilting my head, just tilt it to one side and look.
