: It finally happened
Narcissistic1976 08-09-2005, 11:10 AM Okay this is so shitty. I was comming home and getting ready to put my bike in the garage. So, I had to park it in the driveway so i could open the garage door. well needless to say my driveway has an incline and as I put the kickstand down an damn thing rolled a bit. just enough to let the kickstand give way. yep you guessed it, the bike fell to the asphalt. guess what else, no sliders either, they arrive this Thursday. So now the left side plastics are fukd up and need new bar ends, new clutch lever, and generator cover http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Not to much damage but still. Gonna try to touch up the plastics see how they look. Guess the brighter side is I wasn’t underneath the bike. Anyway just want to vent. Damn bike is barely 3 months old. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cussing.gif
rraiderr 08-09-2005, 11:17 AM Look on the bright side now you can get the woodcraft covers and CRG levers.
juniorace 08-09-2005, 11:49 AM Been there, done that. It's a sick feeling. Just try to get yourself in the house and keep your mind off the bike. It'll drive you nuts if you let it.
gsxr313 08-09-2005, 11:54 AM To make you feel a little better, you would still have some of the damages anyways. Sliders don't always save bar ends, levers, foot pegs, and all your bodywork. Now you can say your bike has character.
Narcissistic1976 08-09-2005, 12:01 PM Nuts is not the word.. trying to keep mind off it but now i'm just pricing out parts... damn... .
performula 08-09-2005, 12:23 PM The bike will look like sh*t over time when riding being sand blasted going 105mph down the interstate. What happened to you is part of owning and having a sportbike. It comes with the territory.
Did you see the video of the brand new Ducati tipping over as he was pulling out of the garage? It can always be worse. Be thankful it was in your garage and not going 105 on the I-95 getting swiped by a Semi. It can always be worse.
TheSwami 08-09-2005, 12:30 PM I dropped my 02 750 practicing in a parking lot when I first got it. I feel your pain.
Da Mighty Midge 08-09-2005, 12:33 PM Poor Bee. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Strafer 08-09-2005, 12:40 PM That sucks! I've done it myself. Never park on a hill with the bike pointing downhill!!!!!! Lucky me, I crashed (lowside) shortly after so I got all new bodywork. Can crashing be concidered lucky? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wait.gif
CRAIG S. 08-09-2005, 02:30 PM You didn't say if you left it in neutral if I'm on a slight incline or anything I make sure I park it in gear.
Peter S. 08-09-2005, 03:00 PM I dropped my 02 750 practicing in a parking lot when I first got it. I feel your pain.
Same here http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Dropped it practicing my 2nd day owning my '03 600. Broke my heart, but now I view it as battle damage http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
brooks2005 08-09-2005, 03:06 PM You didn't say if you left it in neutral if I'm on a slight incline or anything I make sure I park it in gear.
i keep mine in gear at all times. even in the garage. never know when someone might accidently bump into it.
WaynesNside 08-09-2005, 10:25 PM Sorry for your luck but that sounds about right...3 months...about the time I went down on my bike when it was new...it happens.
I always leave it N gear on inclines and roll it forward till it stops and then put the kickstand down.
Narcissistic1976 08-10-2005, 12:11 AM Yeah it was in gear. I always do also. but it moved just enough to push the kickstand back. anyway, anyone here know where to get yellow touchup paint for an 04?
Narcissistic1976 08-10-2005, 12:14 AM What about plastic filler too?
Narcissistic1976 08-10-2005, 12:57 AM Nevermind. color-rite seems to have it. any comments on their plastic repair? or a better solution out there.
Chris2pher 08-10-2005, 02:14 AM Sorry to hear. But it could have been a lot worse. I'm sure in time you'll have it as good as new, if not better. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
performula 08-10-2005, 04:45 AM Also, always pull the bike back when you put your kickstand down to make sure it is full engaged.
Grandevil 08-10-2005, 04:59 AM I always make sure mine is in gear if it's on an incline because this has ALMOST happened to me before. That sucks, but at least you weren't under the bike like someone else said.
Strafer 08-10-2005, 05:14 AM I was mad at myself after I did it. I felt that I was a true master of the back roads, terror of the twistys, King of the canyon, Sultan of the sweeper, Killer of the curves. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Now if only I could get the kicking of the stand! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
