I believe that no matter what it should still be a persons right to not wear or wear a helmet. I wear one at all times and I live in a country where it is the law. I'd wear it regardless of the law but I still think a person should not be told by the government to wear one, however I think if you choose to not wear one then the health care system(private or medicare) should not have to foot the bill for any applicable head related injuries. You are then on your own.

I'm for the helmet law... I always wear one. I can see that some people would be upset by this but the fact of the matter is is that it is a burden put on a lot more people when you crash and aren't wearing a helmet than it is when you are wearing one. This article is a prime example.

i agree, nobody else on the road wants to see a guy on a bike wreck and be laying on the pavement with his brains leaking out of his skull just because of the stupidity of not wearing a helmet

Ride.

I actually prefer there not be a helmet law. Easier to point out the squids. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

my son and i were walking across the mall parking lot the other day and a guy came riding through (pretty slow) with no helmet on so I told my 3 year old to yell "put a helmet on stupid man!" when he passed us. so he yelled it and the guy beeped his horn...i guess he thought we were checking him out and my son was saying something like "you're cool" or whatever. retard. down here in FL I see a lot of people without helmets and it could be because of the heat partially but I always wore mine (except for a few times when i made my passenger wear mine, still stupi, i know) and if it was too hot then i took my car instead.

i see no reason why i wouldn't put my helmet on, im not interested in getting bugs in my teeth, plus a helmet(full faced) helps a lot with the wind, and obviously protects your head and face

This goes along with my Darwin theory I had posted up a while back. When I was in college I wrote a paper on a "theory" of the "Continual Dumbing Down of Society" Essentially the jist of it was that we as a society are constantly LOWERING our collective IQ... A couple hundred years ago, you had to pretty much keep on your toes to stay alive. If you were stupid, you died before you had a chance to breed. Darwin's "Survival of the Fittest". As time has continued on into more recent times, we've started taking darwin's theory and throwing it out the window. We started putting label's on hair dryers that told us not to use them in the bathtub. We put signs that say "walk" or "don't walk" when we try to cross the street. We put "Do Not Dive" signs on 4ft swimming pools. Hell, we even took READING off the requirement list by putting pictographs on things. Like the hand missing a finger with a slash through it on the opening of the lawnmower. There's even a guy getting hit by a lightning bolt on the outside of transformer boxes. All these things have worked toward the same goal. People who used to do these things and DIE, no longer do. The guys that decide to dive head first in a swimming pool, use a hair dryer in a bath tub, and pull the clog of grass out of the mower while it's still running, are now able to LIVE all thanks to our signs and pictographs.... That may be great for the stupid guy, but it creates a problem for society as a whole... NOW he's able to get married... and more importantly... BREED! Chances are, since he's stupid, he's probably going to marry a stupid woman... They breed and produce a stupid child. The cycle continues on and on and on... Eventually "intelligent" people are going to be outnumbered and society as a whole will decline. We'll probably all end up back in some primordial ooze some day.

So my opinion? I'd never ride without a helmet, but the LAST thing we need is a way to help MORE stupid people live longer.

thats fine if thats your opinion and thats the way you think, but lets just get away from this "darwin obsession" so many people on this site seem to share....don't you think people who make a mistake diving into a shallow pool have people who care about them? or lets really go out on a limb and assume they are contributing members to society but just don't have much commen sense....same thing goes for riding with no helmet, although i'm not one to go out with no helmet on, many people do, and they MIGHT just MAYBE serve a purpose in this world just as important if not MORE important than yours, just because someone is on a motorcylce without a fucking helmet does not by any means give you the right to say they are dumb in all aspects of life and they need to die because they are stupid and will breed more stupid people http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bitchslap.gif take a step back and listen to yourself, you would rather someone die and have the lives ruined of their family and ones who care about them, because its more important for you to live in a world free of stupidity http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif people make mistakes asshole and this "theory" of yours is rediculous http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif there will always be stupidity and no bull shit theory is gonna change that

Yup, that about sums it up... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/trout.gif I'm sorry you feel that some idiot who "hollars" 'Hey ya'll! Watch this!' just before diving head first into a 4ft pool and breaking their neck contributes greatly to society, but the fact is, toilet bowls were being used as flower pots long before this guy showed up. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif

*edit* You have a daughter? How 'bout she goes out and marries that asshat that dressed in a bannana suit, doused himself in alchohol, and lit himself on fire because he thought it'd be "cool"... Hrmm... Guess they should put a BIG warning label on alchol that says, "DO NOT DOUSE YOURSELF IN ALCOHOL WHILE WEARING A BANNANA SUIT AND PROCEED TO IGNITE YOURSELF", cause obviously this guy needs to go on living. Better yet, better just put a picture of a guy in a bannana suit, engulfed in flames, with a big circle and slash through it, just in case he can't read.... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif

I can't imagine that the state of FL. would make a law helmets are optional when The state of Washington won't legalize white lining!!!!!! IMO I think not wearing a helmet is MORE dangerous.
