dont know what i did, but somehow my igniton is stuck. i stopped to get gas, took out the key to open the tank and when i went to put it back in the ignition it wouldnt turn at all. i stood there for a few minutes wiggling the bars and such to see if i could somehow jiggle it into place or something.
had to get a ride home on the back of my friends bike to get a car with a hitch and then go pick up a trailer at another freinds house. so it was kinda a pain to get it to home and it would be nice to get this problem solved as quickly as possible since the season it quickly getting shorter.

anyway it lets the key slide in but it wont turn either way. whats the best way to solve this problem?

first - the worst solution is: get pissed cuz yer fucking late, stick the key in the ignition, grab it with a pair of channel locks, put enuff torque on the bitch to actually twist the key itself. this is what i did, the key didn't break and the bike did start.

the best way (which i did once i had some time) is to just spray some WD40 into the ignition. just lubing the key will not put enuff in there to fix it you actually gotta spray some down in there. mine's fine, now (i just need a new key)

Use powdered graphite. It is made specifically to lubricate the rollers in locks. Unlike WD40, it is dry so it wont collect dustand jam it up again. If your ignition is corroded because the little spring-loaded thing that slides closed when the key is pulled out doesnt work, then use WD40.

i ran into this problem the other day after some rain got into my keyhole. WD40 cleared it right up. Graphite is the shit...i use it to lube my weapons.

WD40 or oil keep putting the key back and fourth, till it loosens up.

Yes, over in the lock department. A car parts store should have it too.

ok, i tried both the powdered grapfite and the WD40 and all either of them did was make the key slide in and out smoother. what else could i possibley try?

The sliders which index the key can slowly wear down over time. This leaves the lock not fully disengaging over time. My SV got so bad after so many cycles that I ended up dismantling the ignition and filing down ends the sliding tabs. This may be confusing so if you are interested in trying this I can write up clear instructions.
