Leave it to bling bling ricers to paint their Civic's calipers. I've seen it done on bikes and it looks mighty tacky.

never seen on bike but prob can be done, downside with painted calipers is that they chip and fade as i seen on cars.

But on the bright side, everyone that was pointing and laughing would just look like they were waving... Wait... They don't do that now do they? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rotflol.gif

PAINTING THE BREAK CALIPERS LOOK REALLY NICE DEPENDING ON THE COLOR AND MATCH OF YOUR BIKE. I HAVE A BUDDY THAT PAINTED HIS AND IT LOOKS REALLY NICE. IM GOING TO DO THE SAME WITH MY GSXR 750. I THINK IT WOULD BE A BIG ADVANTAGE IF YOU LEARN HOW TO PAINT. ITS NOT HARD AT ALL. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PROJECT

Because GOLD calipers on a yellow/black, blue/white, red/black, black/orange, blue/black, or black/silver bikes doesn't look tacky, right? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/disappointed.gif I'm thinking about coating my calipers red on my red/black bike but now that you've told me that would be more tacky than my gold calipers I'm having second thoughts. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

OH MY GOD! AS I WAS TRYING TO READ THIS I STARTED TO THINK, WHY AM I YELLING AS I AM READING THIS IN MY HEAD. THEN I NOTICED THAT YOU WROTE IN ALL CAPS. SO WITH THAT SAID. YEAH I THINK THAT I WOULD BE CHEEPER TO LEARN HOW TO PAINT. But do i want to sit there for hours sanding primering and painting. Hell no. I'll leave it up to the pros. JIMO. but my friend does all his own work. Never goes out for a ride becuase he always has shit off his bike getting ready for paint.

painting calipers first sand completly or have sand blasted to remove any original paint or rust or anything that will not let you acchieve a nice finish then it has to be primered then painted with a specific high temp paint only or will chip and wear the paint is also used for head gasket covers sikkens or sickens i forget how to spell it has the specific paint in any color for painting them or any other part that sees extreme heat

Screw what anyone else thinks, if thats your cup o tea, then do it. I sure you didn't ask what bike everyone thought you should get ....right? This is no different. If people point and laugh, pull out an uzi and mow'em down

You can use high temp engine paint.

HERES AN IDEA. GET A SET OF SECOND HAND CALIPERS AND TRY MESSING AROUND WITH THOSE. JUST SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT MESSING UP YOUR STOCKS. GOOD ADVICE. LEARN HOW TO PAINT. IT COULD ONLY BE A GOOD ADVANTAGE TO YOU. IT HELPS ME MAKE A SHIT LOAD OF SIDE LINE MONEY. AND I COULD SAVE SO MUCH. IT BEATS PAYING SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THE WORK THAT YOU MIGHT NOT BE TOO HAPPY ABOUT. THINK ABOUT IT.

I painted mine bar-b-q flat black like the stock 750 4 pistons and its high temp. I didn't like how the 6 pot 1k gold calipers looked on the bike. It drew too much attention away from other details.

I took them apart, they come apart in halves. I cleaned them competely with carb cleaner (don't get any on the seals). Laid down a few coats of paint, laid down a few more of clear to protect the paint and put them back together. Viola. Be very careful when bleeding brake fluid will still take the paint off even through the clear. My solution, black permanent magic marker as touchup.....HEY you can't even notice I'm so far in front of you!!

Do it when your gonna change your pads and you wont have to take them off the bike. Make like your gonna change the pads but mask off the brake lines. With the old pads in place go ahead and clean up the calipers with a wire brush. Get the residue off with brake parts cleaner then paint. I used Dupont high temp engine enamel spray paint and it works great. I like the BBQ black idea though.
