Just picked up new 2005 GSXR1000. Dealer recommended keeping it under 6000 for initial take home. At 3500 rpm there is a chattering sound or flutter coming from a direction at aft tank. What can this be? Is it the exhaust valve fluttering? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just to be clear that's the exhasut pipe valve or SET valve. Wondering if the butterful can flutter and does if the throttle and rpm are just right.

The fluttering you are hearing/feeling is pretty common with the Gix 1k, mine still does it with the slip on installed, and its even more pronounced... At that RPM the actual exhaust pulses are in a strange stagger and it sounds like the bike has lost a cylinder... The fact that the stock header has no "cross-over" pipes contributes to this... Dont sweat it too much and try to get used to it.

Well if the valve is not the issue and the sound is free, I can learn to like it.

Ya, I have the same think, I just figured it was the valves. I does get a bit loud.
